Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

There are many famous Irish Canadians, As there are many Canadians of differing ancestral heritages. My first name "Rory" means "red hair with fiery behaviour." As we celebrate St. Patrick's Day in the Dominion Of Canada & worldwide, lets look at a few.

I. As pictured above, Thomas D'Arcy McGee, immigrated from Ireland & became a cabinet minister & Founding Father of Canada's Confederation. He is the only major Canadian politician to have been assassinated while in office.

II. The late & great Mr. John Patrick Day of Edmonton. John has been featured many times in this blog. He died in 2007 and was a proud Uncle to his nephews and friend to us all. He was also a genius at strategy at numbers & statistics & was a proud Irish Catholic Liberal.

III. Former Prime Minister Martin Brian Mulroney's family, including his father were born in Ireland & immigrated to Quebec. Of course the former PM was Irish Catholic Progressive Conservative in political nature.

"Oh Danny Boy: The Pipes, The Pipes Are Calling",

Rory
