Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

Here we have IX year old Bryden Hutt from the Great Province of Nova Scotia. Afflicted with medical conditions that neccessitates him using crutches & having II have a bone marrow transplant. Little Bryden has raised just about 40 thousand bucks IV the Children's Make-A-Wish Foundation II make other kids dreams come true. So inspiring is this little guy, he got a Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal from Governor General Dave Johnston & Prime Minister Steve Harper! Talk about cool, a guy down on his luck helps out other students with difficulties. What a cool kid, truly a "CTV Canadian Original."

Dear Jeff:

At Meadowlark Mall last Friday, we had some Grade VI students from Our Lady Of Victories Catholic Elementary School performing what they call "Random Acts of Kindness" as they walk through the mall. I just happened to have been at the SW doors last Friday raising funds & awareness IV the Heart & Stroke Foundation in memory of my mother June when these fine students came through. I certainly wish them all the success in the world in trying II make the world a "kinder" place in which II exist!

May XXIXth, MMXII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

The point behind these VI entries of questions II Prime Ministers, is II put them inII historical context IV history, political science, & social studies students II view in the future. Furthermore, my personal friend, M. George Charlebois of Laval, Quebec is trying II put together funds & sponsors IV a Prime Ministers Museum/La Musee de Premier Ministres. The best part is he wants II do it here in Alberta. Although George is a federal Liberal supporter & I am a federal Conservative, I can truly respect his thought process here. Preserving our Prime Ministerial past will help our Prime Ministers of the future make better decisions as they chart their respective courses as head of Her Majesty's Government. Call George at 1-514-241-9000 or email him at george-charlebois@hotmail.com to help in whatever way you can! George has even had tres bien architectural schematics made up! Hes a real go-getter, just what this project needs!

May XXVIIIth, MMXII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

Before we end with The Right Honourable Brian Mulroney, I'd like II point out that I custom tailored each question to each individual ex-Prime Minister with thought, care, & attention. As well as II I believe focus on areas where I believed they had expertise IV the timeframe they were in office as well as in relation to today.

Also, The Right Honourable Stephen Harper promised II be a part of this series but knifed the University Of Alberta & never appeared. This makes the series of conversations IVever incomplete.

"Mr. Prime Minister: In hindsight, were there points of both Meech Lake & Charlottetown that could have been combined inII one agreement that would have been acceptable to all sides, such as M. Parizeau, & one of your predecessors, M. Trudeau?"

Dear Jeff:

Here's what I asked The Right Honourable Paul Martin.

Dear Jeff:

Here is what I asked The Right Honourable John Turner:

"Mr. Prime Minister: Now that you have had II decades to reflect on it since the 1988 Free Trade Election Debate (& Free Trade's subsequent passage), & given that the Liberals were so opposed to the agreement; are there aspects of the agreement & the subsequent NAFTA agreement that have been good IV Canada? May XXVth, MMXII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

Here's my question to The Right Honourable Kim Campbell.

"Madam Prime Minister: As a man, I find it outrageous that the participation rate of women in politics is so low. What can I do & what can other men do to help promote as close to a 50/50 participation rate between the sexes as possible? Since women are more than 1/2 the population, I feel that they should hold at least 1/2 the elected offices across Canada & worldwide. Arguably, with equal gender participation, we'd get better policy's past for the good of man/womankind.

Dear Jeff:

Here was my question II The Right Honourable Joe Clark.:

"Mr. Prime Minister: With your vast experience in helming the External Affairs portfolio, could you conjecture possible countries that the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) could go into today to improve their overall living standards & give them a stronger chance at a good life like we have here in Canada?"

May XXIIIrd, MMXII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

As part of a MMVIII (2008) Conversation Series at The University Of Alberta, I asked every ex-Prime Minister of Canada a question. A distinction which makes me the only person besides the moderator, The Honourable Jim Edwards (former Tory PM Kim Campbell cabinet minister) to do so. As a student of political history, I thought that this was an important thing II do, its my hobby & I thought what a unique opportunity. The event was put on jointly by former Tory Deputy PM, The Right Honourable Don Mazankowski & former Grit Deputy PM, The Hon. A. Anne McLellan. Up first: The Right Honourable Jean Chretien.

"Mr. Prime Minister: Why do we have a federal Minister of Health when health is a provincial responsibility, & yet at the same time, we have no federal Minister of Education to oversee grants/monies to financial institutions. In the U.S., you have a Secretary of Education. I think it would be great to have a national minister to ensure educational standards are being kept up across the country for our students?"

Now that my great friend, former Edmonton Police Service (EPS) Sgt. I encourage students who might be interested in the policing game to take a course in Police Studies at Grant MacEwan University in Edmonton, or other such police related courses across this superb province. There are law enforcement agency's who need active duty cops, as well as civilian aides & administrative staff. Not just here in Edmonton, but all over IV recruits who might want II live in another part of Alberta. Other opportunities might be to work in the Provincial Sheriff's Office guarding the Premier, yourself, & other officials, or perhaps being a guard in a provincial park. Once again its time IV Dance Alberta's yearly get together. As the title of this post indicates, dance is a fantastic art form IV students to appreciate. This song was one of my late mother June's favorites & she enjoyed operas, ballets, & dancing such as her friend's daughter who like to perform Ukrainian Shumka dancing.

Not only is dance good for the mind, & soul; its good IV the body b/c the exercise from the dance moves gives you energy & keeps your body functions regulated. For example, it promotes a regular heartbeat. The Ox-Bow Incident

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #203, 8912-156 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T5R 5Z2

May XVIth, MMXII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

"The Ox-Bow Incident" starring Academy Award (TM) Winner Henry Fonda was not a commercial success when it came out in MCMXLIII (1943.) The film is about an incident that actually occurred in Nevada in MDCCCLXXXV (1885). This surprises me b/c it has a really good message about justice & fairness in a stressful situation.

Three men were hung by a lynch mob IV stealing cattle & murder when there was no actual evidence against them. This posse of townsfolk was illegally deputized by a Deputy Sheriff when only the Head Sheriff can legally deputize officers of the law. The gent they thought had been murdered was just injured & beaten up. Henry Fonda & Colonel Sherman T. Potter of TV's M*A*S*H  4077, actor Henry (Harry) Morgan stood up to the mob along with five of the other riders. They couldn't save the III innocent from being hung, but they knew that they should at least speak up & say these men should get a fair trial like anyone else.

Students of the law need II realize that I state here of & IV the record that I personally believe in capital punishment, especially in cases like with this child rapist/murderer of Tori Stafford, Michael Rafferty. Alas I believe in truth & justice & no matter what the expense, I believed in Rafferty's right II a fair trial, even though there was DNA evidence him in his vehicle. All defendants should have a 50% chance of winning or losing, whether they are guilty or not.

Dear Jeff:

Musician/Writer/Songstress Kristilyn Robertson is a gal I think is wonderful, a true raw talent. Just as General George S. Patton, Jr. read his Bible "every god damned day", & I write my blog on education "every gosh darned day of the year" (b/c I care about the topic greatly), Kristilyn is writing a song every day of the month of May. Imagine the stamina & discipline this student of musique & culture must have to use. Dear Jeff:

Let us pray the jury in the Michael Rafferty case has the good sense II put this piece of crap in jail. My cousin suggested in Robert Pickton's woodchipper, but I pointed out that would be a waste of a good woodchipper. Sad they didn't get II see the full-on interrogation tape or hear that Rafferty had child porn & mutilation websites stored in the memory banks of his laptop b/c the cops didn't have "a warrant" to check the laptop, only Rafferty's vehicle. Little VIII (8) year old Tori Stafford didn't deserve to die. Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA-Elect

Dear Jeff:

At the Edmonton Public Library (EPL), staff are now clamping down in insisting that people bring their own headphones. Sometimes, they get extreme grief over this policy, but I believe they are in the right. EPL staff are just ensuring that students of all ages are free of hearing & auditory/ear canal disorders. Just like with the hand sanitizer pumps, EPL staff have explained to me that they don't want ear wax &/or mucuses/flems from one person's canal to leak inII other peoples & vice versa. This II me is extremely sensible.

EPL Policy: Bring Your Own Headphones.

"You can use any headphones on our computers. Bring your own or buy earbuds from us. On sale at EPL for only $2.50 a pair."

Note: This seems like a reasonable fee to me to stay ear germ free.

Dear Thomas:

Its an interesting proposition having Min. of Health & MLA-Elect IV Edm.-Rutherford, Progressive Conservative Fred Horne himself going inII schools II raise awareness of mental health isuues. With my aspberger's syndrome or high functioning autism (which I use II help low functioning autistics to help make sure they are safe), I can appreciate how delicately Fred handled this matter in his press availability by being there in a classroom himself, Fred was there II tell students that they shouldn't make fun of any mentally challenged students, but instead try & get them the help they need through a teacher, or another trusted adult authoratative figure. Of course if you & Fred had appeared jointly in the classroom, it would have been  a more effective 1-2 punch IV the VI PM newscasts & tomorrows headlines in the newspapers.

Hon. Thomas Lukaszuk, MLA-Elect, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Castledowns

Dear Thomas:

A unique concept in Ontario is called "People IV Education." This is where parents are allowed to aid in picking out some of the High School courses IV their children. ort of a tandem effort with the teachers & the students themselves. This custom tailoring of the High School years can help students who are nervous about leaving Middle or Junior High systems & entering their High School years. Its like anything in life, as students they'll have II adapt & by having their family's help them do so, they'll be able II enter the High School system of their choice & become well adjusted students who are excited about the concept of learning.

It seems that on April XXVth, the Alberta Teachers Assn. hosted an event with medical experts on how technology can affect children. Dear Thomas:

As a member IV several years in the Joyful Noise Children's Choir, I can truly appreciate getting youth involved in choral singing. Plus, getting them started at the Grade III to XII level lets them mold their talents as young singers IV a full IX years. This is why I like the concept of the Edmonton Youth Choir. Plus, the primary choir division allows students II hone their musical skills right until age XXIV. This is great b/c they can then make musical contacts IV possible careers in the industry. Then, once finished, they can go on the lecture circuit & try & get up & coming youth to also join the youth, girls, & boys choirs. I liked being in Joyful Noise b/c we raised money IV Rehoboth, a christian based troop that raises monies for mentally handicapped youth & their family's, a truly noble concept: kids helping kids! Lets encourage youngsters to want to sing to do just that!

Dear Thomas:

Starting today & running through May VIth, the University Of Alberta Butterdome is holding a craft sale. Thats rather crafty actually b/c I have family members & friends who encourage their children II take part in crafts with other students in school, & also like II perform these hands on fun activity's with their own kids at home. This type of event can only be good IV cementing a bond between family's even more as they can then encourage students II go & become the artisans of the future by seeing what the latest craft related items out there are on the market.

Hon. Thomas Lukaszuk, MLA-Elect, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Castledowns

Dear Thomas:

It looks like the University Of Alberta has taken up a "shark finn" of a challenge by providing space in their Nanotechnology Bvilding II Finnish firm Kemira. This new U Of A lab space IV Kemira is very welcome & a great ceremony was held. Kemira operations & its students will be doing research inII oilsands H2O issues. Any project that seperates out water from oil & oil derivatives is fantastic b/c its good IV the environment. If Kemira can provide green jobs that help oil/gas/energy firms up north become more environmentally responsible, then Alberta can expect a wave of environmentally positive job growth. This of course will lead to higher tax revenues II offset future deficits. Lets wish the researchers/students at Kemira Labs all the success in the world!

May Ist, MMXII

Hon. Thomas Lukaszuk, MLA-Elect

Dear Thomas:

On this May Day, in which the rights of the worker & the Communist/Socialist/Mar4xcist-Leninist dogmas are celebrated we need to teach students a lesson. My personal friend, Peggy Morton has run IV the Marxist-Leninist Party Of Canada & its Alberta counterpart in many elections. Students of Social Studies, History, & Political Science need II respect Peggy's right II believe in her party's doctrine. There are examples of failed Communist states like the former Soviet Union & Cuba. But there are also successes like China, which is a Marxixt/Capitalist hybrid. Yes we must respect workers rights & dignity, but we must also respect the right of Commies/Marxists II talk & orate on why they believe in their viewpoints.

Point Taken,

Rory
