"A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand!"-Mr. Carter

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

September XXXth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

When you get right down to, Congressman Buddy Carter of Georgia has the right idea that the topic area for students that they aren't getting prepared properly for the working world, as well as other post-educational endeavours. He is right to believe that too much bureaucracy can cause problems as well. I know that is a tenant of the NDP & socialism, as well as commie pinko based societies & governments, but a balance between the ideas for student administration of the left, centre, & right has to be worked out. Plus, students need more help so they can do well on both assignments, as well as in achievement tests. This is what Buddy believes for Georgian & American students too.

"Education decisions are best made by those closest to the student: families, teachers, communities in states. While the federal government's involvement in elementary & secondary education is at an all-time high--including a four-hundred percent increase in the last thirty years--student achievement has not budged. In fact, American students are falling behind their international competitors."

Rory

September XXXth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

We have Congressman Jeff Miller of Florida explaining why he thinks that its important to service families (jncluding students) who cannot afford to travel to his Congressional offices in cities. Many have mobility issues, as well a lack of reliable transportation option. Jeff is right to do this because when you are the Representative of a District, you should service all citizens, rich or poor, in civic & remote areas, & whether they voted for you or not. If I can recall, The Hon. Rona Ambrose, PC, Minister Of Health & Conservative Candidate in Sturgeon River-Parkland in this Federal Election & many other MPs do this here in The Dominion Of Canada already. I am not sure if MLAs do so.

"In order to better serve the needs of constituents who are not close to the Pensacola or Fort Walton Beach offices, special "mobile office days" modeled after "veterans' assistance days" have been established to better serve our growing population in Northwest Florida."

"Will The Senator Yield The Floor?"-Deb Fischer

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

September XXIXth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Senator Deb Fischer of The Cornhusker State of Nebraska has an interest in the topic area of Boys Town, a group that keeps young men & women out of trouble & on the right path. The group is celebrating its Cth (100th) Anniversary & the Senator is getting coins made to celebrate their work. Why even a film called "Boys Town" was made starring Academy Award (TM) Winner James Cagney, a great film.

"I'm thrilled to announce the passing of my legislation commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Boys Town-a truly remarkable organization that has rescued countless young men & women from harmful experiences."

September XXIXth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

The soul House member for Delaware, Congressman John Carney gives us the scoop on his ideas for giving students with educational debt a chance to still be able to borrow funds for other things. Helping them get financially back on track will allow them to have monies for other expenses & thus with a clean credit record, they can embark on their chosen careers faster & thus start paying their debts & taxes into the system at a much quicker pace.

"Our bill makes sure that students who take responsibility for their loans are able to get back on track & keep their credit clean. As our economy recovers, we need legislation like The FAIR Act so recent graduates have the chance to buy a home, start a family, & pursue the American dream without the show of bad credit getting in the way."

September XXIXth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave;

We get Congressman John B. Larson of Connecticut to get down to the heart of the matter of early education for children. The earlier they receive educational stimuli, the better the chance that they will want to keep on learning & thus become productive citizens when they grow up that can really contribute.

"The latest research shows that children who receive early education, including preschool & pre-kindergarten, have a marked advantage over those who do not. Every child in America deserves this opportunity."

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Congressman Doug LaMalfa is working on fixing water troubles for residents & their families of his District in California. An issue other politicians in his state & worldwide are working on & that we have chatted about here at Executive Dissertations.

"Ensuring that communities have access to water that originates in their region is the most fundamental of all water rights. A key component of this bill is an entire chapter reinforcing Northern California's absolute, inviolable access to the rivers which begin in & flow through our area."

Dear Dave:

We get Congressman Rick Crawford of Arkansas to enlighten us readers of Executive Dissertations on the matter of quality health care for veterans, active military members & their families. As a former military man himself, Rick really gets this issue.

"I believe we cannot stop until every veteran & serviceman & woman knows they can rely upon a healthcare system at home; whether they live in Phoenix or Phillips County; Manhattan or Mountain home."

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Congresswoman Ann Kirkpatrick of Arizona just like our last entry was also a school teacher. Ann is interested in bringing up the topic of getting grants to native tribes such as the Hopi Tribe in her District as well as in her state. This will guarantee that they have educational resources & literary supports on a more equal basis to those students & their families living in more urban based centres of the state.

"This grant provides an opportunity for the Hopi Tribe to help people with disabilities to develop the skills, confidence & self-sufficiency to more fully participate in their tribal communities."

The lone U.S. House member from Alaska, Congressman Don Young discusses his feelings on students deserving a quality education each & every day they are in a classroom setting. As a former educator himself, this is a very good stance by Don to take.

September XXIXth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Congressman Bradley Byrne of Alabama was the Chancellor of Alabama Community College System before he ever ran for the U. S. Congress. As a result, Brad is very interested in educational & family matters & speaks on why he is "pro-life" in nature & that he feels Planned Parenthood should be defunded.

"I want to be crystal clear, the loss of any human life is a tragedy, but the casual nature in which the Planned Parenthood officials talk about killing a baby is simply heartbreaking & appalling. It is unconscionable that any American could be that cold & callous."

Mobile,

Rory

An Editor's Note: We here at Executive Dissertations have no opinion on abortion either in a "pro-life" or in a "pro-choice" fashion. As we don't know enough about the issue, all we are doing is the Congressman's opinion of the day, exactly as he worded it.

Dear Dave:

In resigning both as Speaker Of The U.S. House Of Represenatives & as an a Congressman from Ohio at the end of October, Congressman John Boehner is showing political science students he has dignity & class. He is also showing that he is willing to compromise & leave on top rather than giving into extremist viewpoints.

Edmonton, Alberta

September XXVIIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA
Minister of Education,

Dear Dave:

There are many good aspects to having students visit seniors lodges & extended care centres in order to brighten the day of older & infirm Albertans. It would also be great if these folks with mobility issues could be transported to schools once or twice a year so that can see in person what the students are learning in person. In this way, the seniors would still feel that they were a part of the community & therefore less isolated.

A Rather Honed Sense Of "Comic" Timing!

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XXVIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

On a campaign break with my nephews & family at the 2015 Edmonton Comic Book & Exposition yesterday, I wound up actually campaigning. It was really strange as at 3 different intervals I ran into residents of Ward G that I had met at the Old Strathcona Farmers Market, Bonnie Doon Mall, as well as Capilano Mall who were there with their families. They told me that there are several reasons why they bring their kids there. It should be noted we've discussed this topic at Executive Dissertations before but just focusing on comics themselves.

I. Comic books & art get students interested in both reading & storylines, as well as the creation of art themselves. Plus, the artisans & writers were on hand to talk to families themselves yesterday at the show.

II. Actors or "Cosplayers" dressed up as comic book heroes &/or villians (as well as their own creations) teach students that there are forces of both good & evil in both the comic world & in real life & that they should try as best as they can to choose the right path. It also encourages students who are interested in costume & fashion design as a career to make their own costumes & have even more fun by helping their friends make theirs as part of a collaboration!

III. Special guests & actors who are in the comic industry such as the creator of Marvel Comics (TM) character Spiderman (R) Stan Lee (who I got to meet, shake hands, & have my picture with yesterday, a great honour) bring a positive message to students & perhaps any troubled youth at these conventions that having heroes is okay & that fighting for what is right & having a sense of justice & helping those in trouble is okay. As a result, wanting to imitate their comic book heroes is a healthy outlet for them to show that they want to be good citizens of society once they finish their educational endeavours!

September XXVIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

An Editor's Note: So Speaker Of The U. S. House Of Representatives John Boehner, Republican-Ohio is throwing in the towel & quitting his congressional seat at the end of October! Just how many more byelections & Special Elections do we need in one calendar year?

Almost having his ass handed to him for "gross incompetence" as New Democratic Leader, Premier Greg Selinger of Manitoba stopped a "palace coup" by members of his own cabinet. He called for a leadership vote & ran to replace himself. Students of the political game will take note that he only won back his job by XXXIII (33) votes, hardly an inspiring total. Just like the Progressive Conservatives here in Alberta were in power far too long, the same can definitely be said for Manitoba's New Democrats. Gregory is now getting back to work on matters that are important to families in order to see if he can claw his way to another term.

"We are continuing to focus on the things that families hold dear like more affordable child-care spaces, improved health-care facilities & better roads."

The Great Schools Of Ward G-Kenilworth School

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XXVth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Principal Chad Sheppard is tres bien et magnifique at Ecole Kenilworth School! This bilingual school focuses on Grades 7-9 & is a closed campus. Thus making sure its students are really strong in terms of safety & security. The Kenilworth Parent Association helps students through the year raise funds for Kenilworth's well known & well respected band programs.

- Kenilworth offers students a huge variety of core courses. Plus, it offers courses in construction, art, foods, leadership, as well as many other complimentary courses.

- Kenilworth & its French Immersion program is highly respected! Thus students learn to honour both the Anglais et la French languages!

- The school wants to instill in its students a tolerance for new ideas & new situations through a consistently positive attitude. A very laudable goal indeed!

The Great Schools Of Ward G-A. Blair McPherson School

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XXIVth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Heading to extreme southeast sector of Ward G, we wind up taking a look at A. Blair McPherson School. Truly a gem among the public schools, A. Blair & Principal Darrin DeGrande are noted for excellence. This Kindergarten through Grade Nine has the unique feature of the elementary & the junior high school kids sharing the exact same time frame & schedule! I love this idea as the younger students can have the older students mentor them & the older students can at the same time learn new ideas from their younger compatriots! I absolutely love this because it lets students build not just lifetime friendships, but a greater trust of adult & authority figures!

- A. Blair opens up its doors to community groups in evenings who might otherwise have a proper place to meet. This is marvelous as it lets students & their families see what is going on in their neighbourhoods & not just be stuck in a "school only" mindset.

- A. Blair has an amazing online study plan. This plan lets parents know that they are more than welcome to participate in their children or children's study plans & overall learning pathway.

- The school insists that students be punctual every day. I like that because routine & regular stimuli are great for young minds. It also encourages revising assignments & doing better on them so that students learn & truly comprehend the overall content of the said materials &/or lessons.

The Ubernator

R. J. Koopmans, Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Millwoods Public Library Terminal #XVI, Edmonton, Alberta

September XXIIIrd, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

An Editor's Note: Having run out of election pamphlets for handing out & in need of some lunch, Executive Dissertations took a drive over to Zach's Famous Donair Shop in Millbourne Mall. The husband & co-owner of my most esteemed & honourable byelection opponent for Ward G Public School Trustee,  Mrs. Aminah Aboughoushe made me an excellent donair & poutine! I highly recommend their establisment!

Now over here diverted & for the first time at the new Millwoods Public EPL Branch, I must say it is rather beautiful. As for the Uber situation, despite the huge Punjabi & Muslim populations in this sector of this city & in Ward G (many of whom drive cabs), some have told me at the public stations here that they use Uber, so its not all negatory.

I for one don't really care what the The City Of Edmonton does in the matter, all I can factor is how Uber muscling in on the taxi business will be good for students & their families. Not to mention that competition is good for stimulating the economy, especially in these tough economic times.

A1. Having Uber compete with cabs will let differing levels of governments & school boards negotiate lower rates for getting students of say a disabled nature to & from their educational facilities. Thus saving those said boards many $'s for other needs of students, such as in the classrooms themselves!

B2. Mothers & fathers looking for work could drive their children & other students with their own vehicles to schools. If they worked for Uber in the process, they could garner some immediate cash for other expenses like school supplies, or say food & clothing for their own children!

C3. Uber will fight to have to compete to stay competitive with taxi cab firms. This is good because operational savings on each side's part will let them spend more money on advertising to students & their family's so that parents & the school district(s) can make the best choice as to what would be the most safe & reliable transportation would be for their child or children.

Video Killed The Radio Star!

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XXIInd, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

I unfortunately cannot attend the 1:30PM meeting of the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) today due to the fact that I am attending a funeral of a family friend of my late mother June. Alas, its a missed opportunity on my part, but I have to go to the funeral. I have sent in some written remarks & send my deepest regrets that I cannot give a 3 minute live to video presentation in person on why I should be the next Ward G Trustee. However, I strongly encourage people to listen to the remarks of my 6 opponents, anyone of whom I am sure would also make a superb trustee. They are:

I. Mrs. Aminah Aboughoushe

II. Mrs. Kristin Kuefler

III. Mr. Wayde Lever

IV. Mrs. Ros Smith

V. Mrs. Bridget Stirling

VI. Mr. Christopher Suchit

In a democracy I must be fair to all of my opponents & give us all an equal chance of winning or losing. Students need to know that is the democratic process & good governance is all about!

The Great Schools Of Ward G-Waverley School

September XXIst, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Its time to "catch the wave" of excellence as we here at Executive Dissertations visit the very excellent Waverley School & Principal Reg Crawford. This Kindergarten through Grade Six school is known to have a superb Reading Recovery & Literacy Assistance Program for its Grade 1 students! Plus, Grade 2-6 students get cognitive help & follow-up to be sure that their reading skills don't diminish. This allows them to have a better level of focus in the classroom which is quite commendable!

- Waverley has a 4 day a week schedule for its Early Education Program. This is truly grand as its lets teachers, parents, & educational leaders properly plan each child's education to an exacting & therefore a more valuable overall standard!

- Waverley lets students who love musique shine several times a year with chances to showcase to sing &/or play instruments in their school. This encouraging of musical talent will get Edmonton great musicians & artisans of the future!

- Counselling & psychological services for students of Waverley right on site are immensely valuable! Along with social workers, these fine folks help keep the bony, mind, & spirit of each student in great shape throughout the school year. They are also quite adept at calming students down who need assistance from their academic stresses.

Dear Dave;

Mr. Auric Goldfinger of James Bond fame would be proud to attend Gold Bar Elementary School! I mean talk about the ultimate endorsement for Principal Tammy Tchir & her focus on personal excellence & a high level of community involvement in this excellent school. This Kindergarten through Grade Six emphasizes quality results in a great learning atmosphere, you might say "the gold standard!"

- Gold Bar gets students to be engaged all the time. Not just in the school building itself, but with supplemental activities outside the school so that they are always learning!

- Gold Bar has students looking forward to quality activities such as intramurals & family dances throughout the school calendar year.

- Special education programs at the school make the quality of lives of the kids with learning troubles better each & every school day!

Just outside right over the western border of Ward G is the Old Strathcona Farmers Market. Held year round on Saturday's as its an inside facility, the market offers a wealth of quality consumer goods & healthy foods like produce for students & their families to eat. R. J. Koopmans, Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XVIIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen., B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

As we journey off to the land of Anne of Green Gables, we meet up with newly elected Premier Wade Maclauchlan of Prince Edward Island. Wade likes the idea of democratic renewal & reform as his province has high voter participation rates, while we in Alberta & other jurisdictions lag far behind. As far as Wade is concerned, getting Islanders involved in student voting will give them the desire to vote all their lives & pass it onto their kids. With the federal election on, we must not give up trying to engage youth & young adults to participate. As many Albertans thought your predecessors in power has been in power for way too long. As a result of this, the hunger for democratic renewal & improvements is powerful across The Dominion Of Canada!

Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XVIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA
Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Its pure & simple! Its not rocket science, I would just suggest to you that you fire the entire Edmonton Catholic School District Board (ECSD) immediately & appoint under your power as Education Minister a single Special Trustee. This Special Trustee would of course just finish the term & not have the power to run for election for the MMXVII-MMXXII term.

By doing this, you of course have to make sure the person is a member of the Catholic faith who is willing to implement this wonderful bathroom policy of gender identity & gender inclusiveness that Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) & many other boards, both public & catholic have implemented. Perhaps an ex-trustee. I was thinking that ex-Prime Minister The Right Hon. Charles Joseph Clark, B. A., M. A., LL. D., LL. D., PC, CC, AOE, Progressive Conservative who is a Catholic in good standing (& Alberta born) & favoring of LGBTQ rights would be a great choice!

September XVIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education & Minister of Culture & Tourism, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

One of the "crown jewels" of the Ward G riding for the Edmonton Public School Board (EPSB) District is as you know The Provincial Archives Of Alberta. Located at 8555 Roper Road, the Archives provide a great place for Ward G students & Albertans to learn about the history of this province in a "real time" format as history is always evolving. Plus there is always new history being made, every day of the year. From Alberta's great agricultural history, all the way to documents on Alberta's first New Democratic government getting elected with the Hon. Rachel Notley, B. A., LL. B., MLA, New Democratic, Edmonton-Strathcona as its first Premier (also partly a piece of the Ward G riding by coincidence) are located there.

- Great neighbours include the nearby Corus Entertainment Radio group & its affiliated band of stations such as 630 Ched AM, 92.5 Fresh AM, 103.9 Cisn FM, & Inews 880 Am.

- Friendly staff who know their statistics, facts, & topic areas cold. Also, they know how to keep the learning materials in proper environmental conditions so that these valuable historical documents (both offline & online) are properly preserved in their respective databases.

- Field trips for students in Grades XI-XII (6-12) that are second to none in providing help in social studies, history, & cultural facts of interest about the province & its many cities, town, villages, hamlets, & other municipal, as well as rural districts.

- Since its your other portfolio Dave, you can see just how valuable the Archives are to cultural groups. There is a huge section on Alberta First Nations history, as well as sections on other groups of immigrants that have added much to our socioeconomic mosaic!

- A team of archivists & experts that will give students & others interests in history walking tours that are quite comprehensive & superb places to study on site. Not to mention valuable links where they can access the Archives from their own home or public computers.

September XVth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

As I take a break from the chat I am having here with King's University students on how to make the lives of Edmonton Grade School students better, I offer assistance to Amber Alert! We at Executive Dissertations, I, & I am sure my fellow candidates pray for the safe return of little Hailey Dunbar-Blanchette to her remaining family members now that she has gone missing. What with her poor father the victim of a homicide, its more important that we find this poor young lass & get her to once again a nurturing home environment that is both safe & sound. So as not just a trustee candidate, but as a human being I ask citizens of Edmonton, Alberta, & other provinces, territories, as well as American states to be on the lookout & contact their local police authorities if they see anything suspicious that can help get Hailey back home safe!

September XIVth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

At Julia Kiniski Elementary School, we have a physical education specialist on site daily for the Kindergarten through grade six students. What a great concept, the chance to have daily physical exertion so that each & every school day! I like the mindset of Principal Sherri Humphrys on this matter!

- Specific Behaviour & Learning Assistance (BLAP) classes in Grades IV-VI truly get the students focused & prepared to enter their junior high school years.

- Julia Kiniski wants students to learn about respect & life. It offers up the chance for students to do that by taking part in great community service ventures!

- Julia Kiniski offers up a lunch & nutrition program from 11:22am-12:15pm daily. This time stamp at the exact same interval guarantees that students on the campus will have proper energy for their afternoon sessions.

Encouraging

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Meadows Public Library Terminal #VI, Edmonton, Alberta

September XIIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen,, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave;

There seems to be some encouraging signs as I work here at the very fine Meadows EPL. I am just drafting up answers to some school surveys I have received by email. A young family has just asked me what I'm doing because of all of the papers I have in front of me by this public terminal & I have explained to them & their children that I'm running for school board & talking about improving school nutrition for Ward G schools. The three children here with their mom & dad really like that idea. Sure there are healthy food choices in schools, but menus can always improve & evolve even more to make things even better for children in school cafeteria settings. This topic has been talked about quite a few times here in previous entries of Executive Dissertations.

The Great Schools Of Ward G-Braemar School

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

You just have to love the focus of the Grade 8-12 student age group at Braemar Junior High & High School. Braemar focuses on helping pregnant & parenting teens ages 13-19 receive a quality education. I like this because just because a teen is pregnant or is the daddy of said "baby-to-be" doesn't mean they shouldn't have less of a chance at a better start in life. Plus the practicality of attending this school while pregnant or the partner of a pregnant student allows these these students to learn basic family & life skills. So I give Principal Sandra Erickson very high marks indeed for keeping these teens feel that even though they will be young parents, they are in a learning atmosphere that will let them make sound choices for themselves & their new family.

- Braemar has a solid block of City parkland surrounding it. This gives the students plenty of space to enjoy the fresh air while pregnant & provides a comforting & relaxing outdoor experience for their infants once they are born.

- At this fine campus, two great gymnasiums & a fitness centre are at the ready to ensure pregnant students & parenting teens & staff & parents can remain fit physically while pregnant. Then maintain that optimal fitness level once their child or children are born.

- The Terra Family & Child Support Centre does an amazing job of providing day care services while mom's & dad's are stuck performing academic endeavours & working diligently at getting enough credits towards their high school diploma. Terra really seems to be a marvelous help to the Braemar learning atmosphere.

Self-Directed Learning,

Its Time To Break Out The Heavy Artillery!

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September XIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave;

Just as The United States Republic & The Dominion Of Canada launched the "war on terror" exactly XIV (14) years ago with the horrible IX/XI (9/11) attacks, its time for me to launch a ground war in this school board byelection race for Ward G. For that, I can only think of doing one thing & that is to be accept help from a "stringer" who was an expert at planning for her Grade I & II classes at Rio Terrace & Afton Elementary Schools, as well as in McLaughlin & in Clandonald where she taught in rural schools. So we bring in my late mother, Mrs. June C. Koopmans, B. Ed. to give readers of this blog  & Ward G residents a lesson plan. After all, in any war or campaign, its always necessary to "plan ahead" your attacks with stratagem. So campaigning from above, we have mom planning a lesson for her Grade II Afton class. She's going to war not just for me, but for her fine pupils at the time as well.

PLANS

Wednesday, September 22nd, 1971

Printing: "M", "m", "N", "n" & saying Happy Birthday to Paul with cards as he as sick in home with pneumonia. Getting classmates to cheer him up will make him feel much better!
Reading: "S" words, short story reading: "The Happy Monkey" to help students sound out words & sentences they have just learned. Building on those exercises & then letting kids write up quizzes for one another on story to help memory cognition.
Arithmetic: Pages 5 & 38. Page 3 & 9 of handout sheets.
Spelling: #3C & #4D & #4H spelling exercises.
Story:     "Take Wing." I will read the story & let the students read in turn portions already read by me aloud so that they feel they are contributing to the reading by making the story come alive.

Music: "3 White Gulls", with recorders, harmonicas & assistance from students in other grades who want to get in a little extra choir practice.
Language Arts: Learning "he is" as opposed to "he's", "she is" & "she's", "cannot" & "can't", "will not" or "won't."
Gymnasium: Outdoor nature hike as there are many birds around the school and a visit with older mentoring students from nearby Jasper Place High School who will join us on this walk.

Dear Dave:

You might be familiar with this lady as she's your boss, Premier Rachel Notley of Alberta. Just over C (100) days in office & Rachel looks at the educational area of promoting good relations with Indigenous & First Nations peoples, building on the work of Former Premier Don Getty, Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Whitemud & Stettler & the Lubicon Lake First Nation. Plus, Rachel has the smarts to Alberta students & their families about this valuable idea on the social media engine of Twitter.

An Editor's Note: I am quite sure that The Honourable The Lady Premier will agree with me that in order to learn respect for Ist Nations folks, that any and all students not of Ist Nations status should take the Aboriginal Studies X-XXX (10-30) high school courses. They gave me quite a valuable insight as I got to meet the members, elders, & chiefs of several different Alberta tribes. It was an invaluable learning experience!

Dear Dave:

And so it has come to pass! As candidates everywhere vie for various political offices we at Executive Dissertations must take a break to congratulate the "greatest campaigner of them all.!" All of her life, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The IInd has been chasing the record of her great great grandmama Her Majesty Queen Victoria as the longest serving Canadian & British Monarch (as well as her other realms & territories!) By gosh today she has it! One more consecutive day in office than her illustrious predecessor who presided over The Dominion Of Canada's creation!

The Great Schools Of Ward G-Ottewell School

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September VIIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

At Ottewell Junior High School where Grades 7-9 are the focus, their rather stellar Principal Ron Thompson & his staff talk about the challenges they face. One of these is transportation, with less than 20% of students actually living in & around the school, it is of very big importance that both school & Edmonton Transit System (ETS) routes properly to supplement parental & family member drop-off points at the school. This is because Ottewell is located in an older area of Edmonton Proper.

- Ottewell has many great staff that will voluntarily give up part or all of their lunch time daily to help out students academically. This shows that they truly want students to succeed.

- Ottewell has a great reputation for helping encourage & showcase their students talents to create in art & music. The Ottewell School Band has won many awards & is truly a marvel that has gained respect at festivals across this sublime city!

- VIIIth & IXth Graders get a chance at Ottewell learn about the environment with outdoor education. Not just learning about respect for the environment, but respecting themselves in making proper environmental choices & making sure they & their family & friends are safe when they are outside together. Clearly lessons they pass onto future generations of Ottewell students!

"Will The Senator Yield The Floor?"-Dean Heller

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September VIIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Senator Dean Heller of The Battle Born State of Nevada orates on homelessness & crime & how not having a home can make people desperate & destroy the lives of many families. Currently a problem in Ward G, & all over Edmonton & many other urban (as well as rural) centres, homeless adults means they have homeless kids who aren't getting a proper education due to say a lack of food & with no roof over their heads outside the classroom, a lack of confidence. This can in these students create a sense of worthlessness!

"Foreclosures don't just affect individuals & families. They have a major impact on neighborhoods & entire communities due to declining property values, unpaid utility bills, & increases in crime."

The Great Schools Of Ward G-Hazeldean School

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Ramada Inn Stettler Courtesy Wifi, Stettler, Alberta

September VIth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Hazeldean Elementary School is truly a marvel for integration. I am reading about it as I get ready to attend a LXVth (65th) Wedding Anniversary at a farm nearby here in Stettler. It focuses on Grades Kindergarten through six with both regular stand alone classes & special needs kids places in split-level classes in Grades 4/5 & 5/6. Principal Bill Godfrey & his team deserve a lot of credit for helping these fine students integrate & feel a more normal part of society in a classroom setting. Many of the students have major learning disabilities so the Hazeldean staff shows caring in helping these fine kids learn to adapt with them & do the best they can.

- Hazeldean has on-site occupational therapists, physical therapists, & speech language pathologists. This is wonderful as they can give the students confidence during times of stress.

- Instructors at this wonderful school make sure that students who need help with language skills don't just know how to say the words, but to make them come alive with a sense of meaning & purpose that they can use in their daily lives.

- A community league is located very close to Hazeldean. These community members are very mindful to help & be supportive of these very special & very bright children!

"Will The Senator Yield The Floor?"-Harry Reid

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September Vth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

The current Democratic Minority Leader in the Senate, Senator Harry Reid of The Sagebrush State talks about leadership to Nevada students on when its time to stand down from power & yet a younger Senator take over. This makes sense as he has faced some serious health challenges as of late. It also makes sense in the context that when you consider that over LXX (70) of Alberta's current LXXXI (86) MLAs & the new MLA-Elect for Calgary-Foothills, a Mr. Prasad Panda, Wildrose are brand new in terms of elected office due to the high rate of turnover in the last Alberta provincial election & Thursday's byelection here (all unnecessarily caused by the low intelligence wondernuts that was Former Progressive Conservative Premier Jim Prentice!)

"I have had time to ponder & think. We've got to be more concerned about the country, about the Senate, the state of Nevada than ourselves. And as a result of that I'm not going to run for re-election."

The Silver State,

R. J.

The Great Schools Of Ward G-McNally School

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September IVth, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed, MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Celebrating its Lth (50th) year come this October, McNally Composite High School & its Principal, Dr. Lisa Wright have a goal to help students develop personal skills to garner confidence & thus be able to be strong leaders themselves one day.

- McNally is proud of its Tiger themed teams & their Tiger mascot. This is wonderful as being healthy physically only increases the overall cognition levels of students in classroom settings.

- McNally has an International Baccalaureate (IB) program that is well respected & focuses on getting students help to be extremely strong in art or science, humanities, or mathematics.

- This fine school has excellent options courses in Communication Studies & Robotics among others. Plus it offers great language courses in Espanol, Putonghua, et Francais.

The Great Schools Of Ward G-King Edward School/The Academy At King Edward

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September IIIrd, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Being a current candidate in this Ward G byelection, I am amazed at the rich history of fine schools in the ward. We start with King Edward School, now known as The Academy At King Edward as it has a multi-campus focus specializing in the learning needs of students from Grades 2-12.

- Led by its Principal, a Dr. Barb Bryson, King Edward focuses on providing a quality education to students with disabilities, a truly noble goal.

- Heavy involvement from the Parent Student Council really guarantees that each & every student is both educated & respected because of increased instruction time from their different teachers. Hey, when a parent's voice is heard, they are going to really appreciate being so involved in the lives of their kids on an educational basis.

- Grades 2-9 attend King Edward School itself while Grades 10-12 attend the Victoria School Campus location. So this change in venue gives the students the confidence they need upon entering the higher grades, as well as the courage to enter regular school classroom venues once they gain the strength of focus they need at King Edward itself.

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

In the birth province of the Hon. A. Anne McLellan, PC & home to the Hon. Peter Mackay, PC & his gorgeous wife Nazanin, as well as Liberal Candidate the Hon. Scott Brison, PC, we have Nova Scotia Premier Stephen McNeil mentioning what he'd like to do for Nova Scotian children & families on the matter of hopes & dreams & being able to stay home, get a proper educational foundation. Thus using that to springboard into becoming members of Nova Scotia society. This is a dream all candidates running for the next Parliament of The Dominion Of Canada & all the candidates running in the Calgary-Foothills Provincial Byelection & all the candidates running in this Ward G Byelection for YEG Public School Board should share!

Gubernatorial-Wisconsin

R. J. Koopmans, B. Admin., Ward G YEG Public School Board Trustee Byelection Candidate, Edmonton, Alberta

September Ist, MMXV

Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA
Minister of Education,
New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder

Dear Dave:

Feeling that "the walls are closing in on him" is Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin (a declared Republican Party U.S. Presidential nomination candidate.) Scotty is looking into a "Creating Job Initiative" & getting workers the skills they need for those job right in Wisconsin so they & their families don't have to leave the state & thus cause tax revenues to drop for coffers & profits for businesses to dry up. Luckily, Scott is economizing & buying pieces of The Berlin Wall to economize since President Ron Reagan, Republican-California had Chairman Gorbachev tear it down! Sort of like how families in Ward G would love it if students from farther south area of Edmonton could be bused in as a stop gap to the Ward's underutilized & even some of their closed schools. This was mentioned to me on several doorsteps last night & would create jobs for teachers & parents who are bus drivers back in the ward.

"But nowadays, the increasingly diverse factory base of southeastern Wisconsin relies on Harley-Davidson, Master Lock, Badger Meter water meters, General Electric medical-imaging equipment, West Bend kitchen appliances, Johnsonville sausages, Kohler sinks & a variety of other types of goods. A planned water-technology hub will no doubt further diversify things."

Madison,

R. J.

P.S.: As for walls, perhaps the Governor should bring in an expert such as Mr. Les Nessman of WKRP Radio in Cincinnati, Ohio.
