The Parliamentarians-Peter Stoffer, MP

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin.
Highlands Public Library Terminal #III
Edmonton, Alberta

January XXXIst, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA
Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

You certainly won't ever catch Peter Stoffer, MP napping. I have written a few letters to him in regards to transportation issues on a national scale, & in regional areas, such as in his riding & in Alberta where I am. Peter has been kind enough to write me back & has helped me on a couple of parliamentary queries. Plus he's been voted "Parliamentarian of the Year" in the past, so he has a lot of respect for his work ethic. In thanking Sergeant-At-Arms Kevin Vickers for his heroics & commitment to knocking out terrorists when he shot down that loser extremist in the October Parliament Hill attacks, Peter remembers to also thank his family. They don't get enough credit sometimes for being a good support system.

"We want to thank his wife, Ann, & his children, Andrew & Laura, very much for sharing Mr. Vickers with us all.)

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Showing students his excitement, Thomas Lukaszuk, MLA is all pumped up about running in the next provincial election. This is truly surprising as he let the "gay hater" who never cancelled the Sky Palace the Hon. Ric McIver, MLA, Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training & Labour, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Hays beat him in the PC Leadership vote!

"I think this government & this caucus will benefit from some of the experience I bring to the table."

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Kennedy Stewart, MP wonders why data, including that of families with kids is at some points shared & used without a warrant. People should have the right to some privacy. I believe its called "The Privacy Act?!"

"Just because sharing data without a warrant is a common practice does not make it the right practice."

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

President Calvin Coolidge was a man of few words. Also known as "Silent Cal", the President thought that as leader of his nation & of the free world, he had to speak with authority so as to give young folks hope for the future. He realized just how powerful his voice was in steering the country forward. This was especially so as his concern for family values stemmed from the fact that he was sworn inII office by his own father (a notary public) upon the death Of Pres. Warren Harding, Republican-Ohio.

"The words of a President have an enormous weight & ought not to be used indiscriminately."

Dear Gordon:

I for one truly admire Genia Leskiw, MLA. She is proud of her Ukranian roots & she should be, many Ukranians & their descendants have contributed to the building of this province (including Former Premier Ed Stelmach.) Genia announced her intention to retire with her head held high a few days ago & many constituents of all ages will miss her. I will miss her as I have Ukrainian relatives myself.

Dear Gordon:

Canada will always need the french to act as a counterbalance to the anglais! Bruce Stanton, MP is talking up the Franco Ontarians & how they make not just his province great, but add to the linguistic richness across the entire Dominion Of Canada!

January XXXth, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

In these tough economic times, Ken Lemke, MLA is on the case for more rural development in order to provide job stimulus not for just his urban/rural riding, but for ridings with a rural component across Alberta. While agricultural & agrifood sectors that support family farming are important, diversification is also important in keeping these folks supported if family farms fall on hard days. Ken, having formally been in cabinet is very focused & reasoned in his message.

"We're looking at all the traditional things that would be involved with industry & business development, but we're also hoping to get some ideas from outside the box from various groups on how we can help business & industry develop in rural areas."

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA
Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Very reliable & well respected in addition to being constantly listening to his residents concerns in his large rural constituency, the Hon. Kevin. Sorenson, PC, MP keeps on getting re-elected! He know just how hard farming families work & that he must bring agricultural concerns to the table. This has paid off as Kevin is now in the federal cabinet b/c of his due diligence. Kevin wants consumers & folks in his riding to be able to make informed choices on purchases so they are not ripped off. In otherwords, a fair deal!

"Our Conservative government believes that with better information, Canadian consumers can make informed decisions in their best interests."

January XXXth, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education,
Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Now that she is in cabinet, the Hon. Maureen Kubinec, MLA has to add that already tough burden of trying to be as much of a legend in her riding than the previous occupant, former MLA, cabinet minister, & the best Speaker, the Alberta Legislature ever (no offense to Gene): the superb Ken Kowalski! Here Maureen strikes out on her own & talks about by stressing multilingual households & keeping both old family & new languages. The more languages a person knows, the better they will be able to adapt as a student in many cultures.

"The value & importance of preserving mother languages is vital to enhancing the vibrancy & diversity of our province. It is a way to connect us to our past, to highlight the traditions & customs of our parents & to preserve the cultural heritage of our ancestors."

Minister of Education,
Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

A cabinet minister for every day she has been an elected personage, the Hon. Heather Klimchuk, MLA is always reliable in a pinch. Here on the social media engine of Facebook, Heather takes a diplomatic turn to honour a previous occupant of the Edmonton-Glenora seat, a Mr. Drew Hutton who had recently died. Drew was a family man who was involved in many causes for the common good & Heather knows its important to respect that.

"Over 300 people attended a celebration of Drew's life & noted his many accomplishments. Especially his support for PDD. Elves Special Needs Society, FASD (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder), Brain Care Centre and Mental Health Issues. I will always remember his smile & twinkle in his eyes."

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

The Hon. Stephen Khan, MLA wants to make an impression about why he decided to run for office. Especially as being an elected representative although giving a person in such a position power, it also takes away from family time & commitments.

"I entered politics because I wanted to give back to my community."

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Donna Kennedy-Glans, MLA challenges Albertans to take a look at renewable energy sources (& for my nephews who are big Transformers fans: energon!) Donna's play here makes sense what with the falling oil & other energy source prices, & with the fact that our energy reserves will run out, we must look to alternative options such as wind, solar, power!. Hell, even tv's J.R. Ewing of "DALLAS" fame, actor Larry Hagman made a bundle off of the solar energy panels around his house & he played the most evil, diabolical & conniving oil magnate on Earth!

Dear Gordon:

Darshan Kang, MLA is a man who can truly "stop traffic!" We at Executive Dissertations will miss this great MLA as he "sikhs" new adventures in the federal field under Justin Trudeau, MP, Liberal, Papineau in the coming the next federal election. As a result a traffic comment in regards to Highway 63 to Fort McMurray & all the families that have died or lost loved ones on it might be appropriate, Darshan, would you please indulge?

Dear Gordon:

The issue that Rathika Sitsabaiesan, MP is trying to get across is that we as Canadians need to ensure proper needs for children are met. Examples of this would be say, food, shelter, educational, emotional, etc.

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Sitting at picture left here, Linda Johnson, MLA is paid a very good salary, plus benefits & bonunes as her riding representative. Knowing that as part of the job she must represent the needs of not just her constituents, but all Albertans, Linda showed me yesterday outside Government House that she just doesn't get it! I asked her point blank about increasing awareness in schools about organ & tissue donations among students & she gave a rather strange & narrow-minded answer, especially when you consider MLAs go on tour during their terms to listen to views from citizens all over the province!

"I only care to listen to the opinions of my constituents."

Well this is like "Coming Home Week." We have up next your immediate predecessor as Education Minister, the Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA. Jeff is now finding ways to look after Seniors in his news position. Maybe he could get students & folks interested in gerontology help him with ideas for making the lives of these great Albertans better. This is fitting as Jeff chats about seniors housing concerns. Dear Gordon:

Jinny Sims, MP wants us to see her efforts to promote organ donation. There are Canadians of all ages (including students) who could benefit from organ donation. This is why I wanted to talk to you & other Government MLAs outside Government House this afternoon & thank you for sparing me a few minutes. That fine RCMP officer, Cst. Wynn that was killed by a deranged gunman donated organs & tissues to help others & XXXV (35) citizens benefited as a result. I want to raise increased awareness of this issue in schools so like Jinny, I can get other students to help.

January XXVth, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

You wouldn't think that a Tory or Conservative Prime Minister would be in favour of such heavy duty environmental initiatives, but Prime Minister Marty B. Mulroney was. Thus putting him ahead of his time in getting things done like an acid raid treaty with then United States President Ronald Reagan, Republican-California. Speaking to environmental teachers & students (as well as business leaders), Brian stated:

"I think the government has to reposition environment on top of their national & international priorities."

So in this circumstance she has to find her own way while making farming & city folk in her riding northeast of Edmonton satisfied at the same time as trying like any politician to get her own ideas through. Here Jacquie is telling constituents she appreciates hearing their ideas. Excellent etiquette indeed & polite thing to do to get young Albertans excited about the political process!

"I would like to thank all that participated. Your input is valuable & we look forward to more conversations in the future."

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

With all the arguments over whether Premier Jim & Finance Minister Robin are making in the media & for either a flat rate tax system or going back to a progressive/staggered rate, perhaps its appropriate we look at President Warren Harding. The President hated taxes, hell everyone hates them we all agree on that point, but if the Chief Executive of a country cannot figure out the tax code, then how in the hell is the average citizen supposed to? At a symposium a few months beIV his death in San Francisco from cardiac arrest due to a brain rupture, Pres. Harding chatted with some accounting & economics students about his frustration with tax systems & numbers.

"I don't know what to do or where to turn in this taxation matter. Somewhere there must be a book that tells all about it, where I could go to straighten it out in my mind. But I don't know know where the book is, & I maybe I couldn't read it if I found it."

Spruce Speculative Science On Tony Vandermeer Running In The Grove

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

January XXIIIrd, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

While I certainly agree with the Hon. Jim Prentice, QC, PC, MLA, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Foothills & PC Leader & Alberta Premier that he cannot really comment on who might be the best candidate in a certain riding as he has to remain neutral. However students of the democratic process should know that Tony Vandermeer would make an excellent candidate in Spruce Grove-St. Albert to replace Doug Horner, MLA, Progressive Conservative there who is retiring anyway.

So the riding is free & clear & what with students involved as PC Alberta members across the province are holding nominations that include getting student party members out for whomever they think will best represent the party this comment on Mr. Vandermeer, a former two-term MLA makes sense. A caller named Roy pointed out to host Rob Breakenridge on the "Kingkade & Breakenridge Show" today on Corus Radio's 630 Ched & QR77 AM Radio today on a one hour "Talk II The Premier" segment with Mr. Prentice how this made great sense to have Mr. Vandermeer run.

I agree with the caller Roy's point that b/c of his connections in Neerlandia & his Dutch-Canadian background of pride in the working & farming classes, Mr. Vandermeer would be an ideal choice for the PC's as their next candidate in Spruce Grove-St. Albert whether in a byelection or general election scenario b/c quite a huge chunk of the riding is rural & filled with folks of the farming & agricultural sector. Roy only brought this up b/c Premier Jim signs all the candidate papers of nominated PC candidates in his capacity as PC Leader. As a result, he would have a good idea as to how a particular race or races might be shaping up.

Student Involved Democracy,

Rory

Dear Gordon:

Transportation Minister the Hon. Wayne Drysdale, MLA talks about new technologies IV building safer roads for families to travel upon so that folks can get to work & students can get to their chosen educational institutions & back safely when they are in their vehicles.

"This technology holds great potential to make our roads & highways safer & more efficient-further supporting our strong economy by getting Alberta's goods to market across Canada & in the United States. Being at the forefront of innovation helps us maintain a high quality of life & healthy environment for all Albertans as we strive to meet growing urban & regional transportation needs."

January XXIIIrd, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

The area of focus for Bev Shipley, MP appears to be the recognizing of Canada's military heroes through tributes. How are students supposed to honour Canadian Armed Forces by joining them unless they look about & learn from our great military history?

"Today we are here to recognize & also honour the significant contribution of General Sir Arthur Currie with the unveiling of the commemorative bronze statue of him at the Strathroy Cenotaph. General Currie grew up in Strathroy & was recognized as the first-ever Canadian General."

Dear Gordon:

Raising cash money for cancer by growing his hair & then shaving it off for sick kids is a very wise investment indeed for the accountant, the Hon. David Dorward, MLA.

"While visiting my hairstylist in early February MMXIII (2013) she mentioned a common friend of ours had just cut her pony tail off to donate to a group that makes wigs for kids with cancer."
