Dear David:

I strongly encourage people II take part in the process of reading. "The Flat Stanley Project" to help kids with parents overseas keep up on their reading skills is important. We need to ensure that the youngsters of our armed forces personnel who are missing a parent &/or relative are being raised right & being allowed II develop proper cognitive function. Children are encouraged to colour & write about "Flat Stanley" as his character was flattened by a mailbox. So he travels through the mail.

Kids then write about "Flat Stanley" & colour pictures of him to send with their departing family member, or mail to that armed forces member already serving in either a peacekeeping, diplomatic, &/or combat theatre of operation. Participate & send books to armed forces youngsters & the same books to the serving members. In this way, they can take time to read & learn from eachother through internet conversations. This is great as it gives them back some parent/child time that they lose by the forced (although necessary IV our National Security) seperation.

The Stanley Cup,

Rory
