Dear David:
My fantastic former Chemistry & Biology Teacher Mr. Derk Vaneerden at Edmonton Christian High School would definitely agree with this. Around my mother's & my apartment building, they are spraying the trees, shrubs, & other plant & flora life with pesticides today to prevent insect invasions. While these chemicals are definitely needed to ensure decent looking lawns & plants that grow well, they can be quite harmful II the environment. We were given notice last night of this spray being performed with the contracted company so we ensured all of our windows & doors were shut tightly. We also made sure II shut off our air conditioners so that chemical pesticide laden air would not enter our suite. Not only is this good IV my safety as I have weak lungs, but it ensures my feline son James Redwing & my mother June (the cat's grandmother) also do not get sick.
Be sure & take a lesson from the esteemed Mr. Vaneerden, play it smart & play it safe around chemicals. If you must be around them (say in a classroom setting) handle them with extreme caution. Be up to date on the latest hazards & safety data sheets so you know of the risks. Also wear the best of the best in terms of safety equipment to ensure your body & brain are protected strongly!
Pest Control A Biological Imperative,
Rory
