As we celebrate the birth of the American Republic today, a little Presidential trivia for students on Gerald Rudolph Ford, Jr., the XXXVIIIth (38th) President, 1974-77.:

I. Gerald Ford was the first ever person II be appointed to the Vice-Presidency of the United States under the XXVth Amendment to the U.S. Constituition. In specifics, the Presidency/Vice-Presidency & possible Oath of Office & succession rules.

II. Gerald Ford was actually adopted. His name at birth was Leslie Lynch King, Jr.

III. Gerald Ford is the only President II have died in one year, MMVI (2006) & be buried the next, MMVII (2007.)

IV. Gerald Ford served with distinction as a Lt. Commander in the United States Navy in WWII. He served in the Asiatic theatre & won the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the American Campaign Medal, & the World War II Victory Medal.

V. Gerald Ford as a Congressman served on the Committee investigating the assassination of former President (XXXVth-35th) John Fitzgerald Kennedy. He was the only member of that committee II have ever gone on II serve in the Presidency himself.
