Sponsorship is having someone take an interest in you, and actually sponsor you or put you forward for opportunities that might not otherwise happen without that sponsorship. While both are important, the times that people have taken an interest in my career, I've gotten some of the bigger opportunities for promotion or for an interesting job through their efforts. And I think that's important for both men and women, regardless of where they are in their career, but its super critical as you start to get closer to the top of the pile."
