Dear Jeff:

As its Bastille Day in the Republic De France being July XIVth, I thought it might be interesting IV students interested in job opportunities in French vineyards to learn some quick facts about Francais vin.

Un. French wines go best with all manner of foods. Tasty, but not to overwhelming so that you don't notice the taste of your meal as well.

Deux. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, & Merlot are the main grapes for rouge wines.

Trois. Semillon & Sauvignon Blanc are the main grapes for blanc wines.

Quatre. Alsace is quite extraordinaire as its a mix of Deutsch & Francais wines, but is sold under French labelling.

Cinq. There are deux cent quatre-vingt (280) different "appelations" or authorized & copyright protected brand names of wine in French.

Au Revoir,

Rory
