Hon. Jeff Johnson, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

On this day XCVIII (98) years ago, the Battle of the Somme began in WWI. Your a teacher so you can appreciate history Jeff & I'm sure like you like me can see the irony that today we celebrate the birth of the Dominion Of Canada IIday on a day that was the beginning of the main Allied offensive & a lot of unnecessary death. The title at the top of this blog may seem like I'm pro-war, I'm not, I'm just showing that war while some points required is just ever so stupid, & yet man continues to wage war every day of the year for power, control, & terror. All IV what, a few measly yards of real estate? MCMXVI (1916) wasn't a highlight on Dominion Day (now Canada Day.) The Battle of the Somme lasted from July Ist-Late November. 1 million soldiers dead when you combine Allied & German troop figures. Totally pointless killing: we must tell students Jeff!

An Unimaginable Slaughter,

Rory
