The Parliamentarians-Pat Perkins, MP

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

January XIIth, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Recently elected in a byelection in Whitby-Oshawa to replace her illustrious & well respected former Finance Minister & predecessor, the late Hon. Jim Flaherty, PC, Canada's newest parliamentarian, Pat Perkins, MP must step out of his shadow to set up her own legacy as MP while at the same time honouring Jim's memory. Political science students need to know that this will be a difficult balancing act, all Pat can do is the best she can.

"There isn't going to be another Jim. One of the things that I need people to understand is that I don't expect to be Jim, & they don't need to expect me to be Jim. I will give them the representation that I always have, honest & accountable, & work very, very hard to achieve the goals that are set out."

Number CCXXVIII (228),

Rory
