Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

President Calvin Coolidge was a man of few words. Also known as "Silent Cal", the President thought that as leader of his nation & of the free world, he had to speak with authority so as to give young folks hope for the future. He realized just how powerful his voice was in steering the country forward. This was especially so as his concern for family values stemmed from the fact that he was sworn inII office by his own father (a notary public) upon the death Of Pres. Warren Harding, Republican-Ohio.

"The words of a President have an enormous weight & ought not to be used indiscriminately."

August IInd, MCMXXIII (1923)-March IVth, MCMXXIX (1929),

Rory
