With all this talk of police shootings of suspects & vice versa we as a society can always rely on Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department to do the right thing. Today, Joe feels really bad as he has just a young college student. He has to rely on the support of his wife Ann, thus stressing the importance of police family members & friends. The point here is if Sgt. Friday hadn't shot this suspect who was about to kill him, his partner Officer Frank Smith, & II civilians in the room where the shooting took place, then they could have been hurt or killed. When Mrs. Ann Friday comes to the squad room to bring her husband home at the end of the shift she asks him if he needed to shoot the suspect & how old he was. Joe explains that although tortured in his mind about having to draw his police issue service revolver, he had zero choice as the suspect drew first.

"Twenty-two. First time I ever killed a man. Not a good thing Ann, you kind of wonder if there wasn't some other way. No there wasn't, he called it."
