Dear Jeff:

In watching Double Academy Award (TM) Winner for this film Shelley Winters deliver a bravissimo performance as actress in a supporting role (her Ist of II), as well as Millie Perkins in the title role of "Anne Frank", you realize just how sick killing IV religious/racial differences is. This film which I saw on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) last night was made in MCMLIX (1959) & is based on the diary kept by young teenage girl Anne Frank as she & her family & friends hid in an apartment/hiding place from the Nazis.

Whats sad is just b/c they were Jewish (& students of history & those who believe in human dignity will be disgusted by this fact) they had II hide in a loft style apartment in Amsterdam. Totally trapped & unable II go outside even once. This all lasted just over II years & eventually the Nazis caught the whole bunch, & the only survivor of them was Meneer Otto Frank. Luckily, he brought his daughter's diary II life in a book translated to many languages, as well as a stage play & film. He did this to show how rotten Nazism is & how situations of humans seizing power over one another through killing & mayhem must be stopped.

Tragically this type of violence goes on even today say in places as Darfur in Western Sudan, Africa, the Middle East, & all over. People killing one another b/c they are a different tribe &/or religion. All the people in the refugee camps (just like Anne Frank) want is II live & peace & tranquility with all of their neighbours, no matter what their race, religious belief, & socioeconomic status. Isn't that what all people should strive IV, to live normal lives in peace as part of one human race?!

Tot Ziens,

Rory
