Dear Demetrios:

Students & folks who shovel snow or respond to other disasters such as floods & fires will I am sure agree with me that there needs to be better coordination betwixt governments at all levels in emergencies. So here at this commercial rental property my father owns, I do the snow. Yes, municipal governments generally do the cleaning of it, but they are rather poor at it & I quite often have to do touch ups when they leave dangerous ice berms when they say grade an alley leaving me more work than if they had just left it alone. Provincial governments of course take care of highways & arterials roads & gravel roads. But, if the federal government can coordinate better with say His Majesty's Royal Canadian Armed Forces snow removal units with other governments in disaster snowstorms such as what is blanketing Edmonton & much of Alberta now, the streets would be safer faster & folks get back able to get around to their regular activities sooner & in a much safer fashion.

Dear Demetrios:

Here in northeast Edmonton & all over we have a lot of not just frustrated Canadians, but legal immigrants to. In this branch, several are filling in work visa extensions. They state the time & cost of the process is expensive. Meanwhile, refugees get almost everything handed to them for free. Or say when your behind an African immigrant with a full on drivers license who stops in the middle of the road for no reason & you have to move around them, how are they licensed, yet alone allowed to drive an automobile?! Which is good in a way, because it is right that we take in so many folks a year facing violent repression in their birth nations. However, I can see why regular immigrants/permanent residents/contract workers are resentful as many of the refugees get put ahead of them. Plus, many have no skills so wind up being a burden on society. I find it an interesting perspective to chat with these fine folks & here their stresses. My father & his family are immigrants from The Netherlands so I certainly get the context & that the next His Majesty's Federal Government must do better in addressing these troubles with good solutions for all.

According to Alberta Liberal Party & Alberta Party & Alberta New Democratic Party joint chief strategy team member W. Wade Izzard, the "campaign" to oust Hon. Premier M. Danielle Smith, B. A., B. A., ECA, MLA, United Conservative, Brooks-Medicine Hat as UCP Leader & Premier is being lead by "a baker's dozen" or thirteen (13) MLAs in her caucus, so a revolt. All over her remarks that seem to be affecting the Federal Conservative election campaign negatively. Furthermore, at least 1 of the MLAs is sitting in cabinet with you & the Premier. All of this being led by David Parker of Taking Back Alberta, a convicted criminal for not following Elections Alberta financing laws. It should be noted that my returns when I ran what ten years ago provincially as an "Independent" & from when I ran one-quarter of a century ago as a Progressive Conservative Candidate in Edmonton-West federally received letters of appreciation for my financial agents for how well they were written. Gosh this is sure an odd turn of events for a party leader who received 91% support in a confidence vote just months ago!

Note: 13 breakaway UCP MLAs would drop His Majesty's Alberta Government from 48 to 35 MLAs & perhaps lead to a New Democratic administration led by their leader Naheed Nenshi, B. Com., M. P. P.,  New Democratic Candidate, Edmonton-Strathcona for an upcoming byelection.

Dear Demetrios:

In the past, I was knocked out at the Jasper Place Public Library just sitting at a computer, my lunch & some personal information were stolen. It should be noted that it was a bagged lunch & as per library regulations, I was not eating by the computer terminal I was on. Sadly, the gentleman arrested was released the next day & with his mental health issues wasn't even barred from going into any public library. This has to change & federal political leaders running for Canada's next parliament must consult with cities/towns/hamlets/rural area librarians to increase public safety at their sites. I've seen the homeless & those with stress/mental health issues come into library branches. At times drunk &/or high, violent, angry. It just disrupts what is supposed to be a place of quiet study & reflection, a place for individuals & families to come & be safe & learn. I admit I talk too much at times due to my Asperger's Syndrome/Autism. But even I am totally quiet in a library setting.

The cost of living, even eating is expensive. This morning at Terra Losa Safeway, I found a package of smokies that used to go for $3.99 for an 8-pack. Today, there are only 6 in a pack of the same brand & just two years after I checked the price on this particular brand they are now $9.79. That is what 150%+ increase. This is why I don't understand why the Federal Liberals are going up in the polls. Food inflation has led to this affordability crisis what with all their chaotic spending & endless deficits & this is outside of any costs related to the pandemic. The cloth bags people have been a problem, I see many folks using them for garbage bags & as they are partly plastic still, they don't actually work to make climate change a reality.

Staffers Work Hard For Constituents During A Writ

Dear Demetrios:

A reminder that once Liberal Leader & Prime Minister The Rt. Hon. Mark Carney, PC drops the writ, Conservative Leader & Leader Of His Majesty's Loyal Official Opposition The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, PC & all parliamentarians will cease to be "Members Of Parliament" or "MPs." It is at this stage that free mailing privileges to The House Of Commons/Parliamentary/Constituency offices are suspended through Canada Post, & thus normal postage rates apply.

The fine folks in these offices still work on constituency/non-partisan matters that may come up in a writ scenario (such as later today) still handle things such as mail so its better to address your letters to the MPs who just vacated their seats upon parliament's dissolution. So it is better to write to as an example:

As for emails, cabinet order-in-council ministry emails such as Pm@Pm.Gc.Ca for the Prime Minister stay in place. As do shadow cabinet emails for Opposition members. However, generally, emails such as pierre.poilievre@parl.gc.ca are suspended/taken offline as the 338 Members aren't MPs (not forgetting that there are 343 seats for this new parliament, so 172 or more seats for a majorative mandate to be the next His Majesty's Government.) As such it is good to arrange with these staffers alternate emails to contact them with.

A further point, The Governor-General & the Senate Of Canada are appointed positions, so the free mailing privileges to them continue unabated, year round. With the exception of the recent Canada Post strike situation.
