Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

At the employment office earlier today where I dropped off a senior citizen who was applying IV Canada Pension & Old Age Security, I ran inII a dilemma. An unemployed male student with a young son was leaving him unattended when he went IV an interview. The child was only V (5.) Staff brought the boy inII the interview room b/c an unemployment office where people are stressed about their job (or lack thereof) situations is not a healthy place in which to leave a child alone in.

July XXXth, MMXIII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

I would like to see more school buildings combined into joint public/catholic bvildings & have the excess real estate sold off IV cash IV the immediate needs of the boards. With each board keeping the monies from their sold buildings & then operating hybrid bvildings so 50% of the utility's are paid by each board. Thus saving each division millions.

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

The "documentary" format of programs at Edmonton Public Library (EPL) branches & wherever else they are available is great. A long form stimulus of the mind. From a documentary on the root causes of Ludwig van Beethoven's deafness, to one I am viewing now on tennis great Billie Jean King, & everything in between. EPL & other sources have a subject area(s) that will interest students of all ages.

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

My sincerest congrats to His Royal Highness: The Duke Of Cambridge Prince William & his gorgeous bride Her Royal Highness: The Duchess Of Cambridge Catherine on their birth of a healthy baby boy, VIII lbs. & VI oz. I am glad we have another monarch IV the future. His grandpa His Royal Highness Prince Charles, The Prince Of Wales & his great-grandmama Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The IInd & His Royal Highness Prince Phillip The Duke Of Edinburgh must be ever so thrilled. It seems such a pity that grandma Diana couldn't be there.

Now after proper weening such as breastfeeding & the like, their HRH's must get to work giving proper nutrition & brain/cognitive stimulation to their son so that he can get started upon the right educational path when he enters daycare/pre-school & begins to learn things.

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA

Dear Jeff:

If accounting & finance students ever need a lesson in fiscal mismanagement, they need look no further than Detroit, Michigan, USA. One hour police & ambulance wait times (even in murder, attempted murder, rape, & beating calls), 78,000 uninhabitable properties, corrupt administrators, & a huge crushing 20 billion United States Dollars ($) debt. Plus the inability to pay legally owed pensions to retired public sector workers & those still working & paying inII the pension plan.

How can President Barack Obama, Democrat-Illinois & his Health & Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, Democrat-Kansas justify all of his huge spending programs when he & his predecessors are outright letting the infrastructure of what was America's greatest economic engine of a city fall apart? Students learn in schools that are falling apart around them with some even suffering injuries. Some bathrooms in schools are eighty or ninety years old w/o any repair work being done.

We Are One In The Same Dr. Suzuki

July XXIst, MMXIII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

This is why I strongly disagree with David Suzuki. In this Dominion we call Canada, we offer very attractive student loan rates IV immigrants if their job upon entry doesn't work out. The Immigrant Access Fund Society of Alberta (IAF Canada) offers micro loans IV immigrants so they can take the training &/or educational skills they require in order to land the right job. Dr. Suzuki, a child & grandchild of immigration has to realize that the more immigrants we have, the better we as Canadians will become b/c we will have an even stronger socioeconomic mix of immigrants who are glad to become students so that they can make their lives better at a quicker rate.

I attended the Calder (Kensington) EPL one earlier today & then met up with my father here at this one. The face painting, games, sidewalk chalk drawing made IV healthy student interaction & made the Cth (100th) Anniversary barbecues a celebration of EPL's past, & its future. As the kids here today had so much fun, they will know that EPL is a fun place IV their family's now as well as a great place to study, build, bond, & establish friendships & connections in the future when they begin their own family's!

July XIXth, MMXIII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

I would like to see the catholic & public school boards in every zone be amalgamated into catholic/public hybrid boards. Then have the schools that are partially empty shut down as well & sold IV cash. In this way, we can cut deficits & cut the number of trustees/administrators in half, leaving more money IV students. I realize its too late IV this October's school board election, but maybe in MMXVII. I of course mean that voters whether they are catholic or not would get to also vote IV the public half of each board & vice versa.

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA

Dear Jeff:

What about the idea of shipping scrap lumber & plywood all stored in an Edmonton warehouse IV transport? This would undoubtedly save Her Majesty's Government C's of millions of $'s towards construction material costs. I worked a temporary job for extra cash at a construction site IV two days last week & was horrified at all of the excellent lumber & plywood scraps I was throwing out.

So with the permission of the employer, I took two trunk loads (one per day) of lumber over to Youth Emergency Shelter Society (YESS) sites IV them II use in the repair of some of their wooden framed structures. Millions of board feet of lumber is thrown out daily by construction firms. I am sure they would be glad to give it to southern Alberta flood construction, including the repair/replacement of schools in flooded zones.

Dear Jeff:

As its Bastille Day in the Republic De France being July XIVth, I thought it might be interesting IV students interested in job opportunities in French vineyards to learn some quick facts about Francais vin.

Un. French wines go best with all manner of foods. Tasty, but not to overwhelming so that you don't notice the taste of your meal as well.

Deux. Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, & Merlot are the main grapes for rouge wines.

Trois. Semillon & Sauvignon Blanc are the main grapes for blanc wines.

Quatre. Alsace is quite extraordinaire as its a mix of Deutsch & Francais wines, but is sold under French labelling.

Cinq. There are deux cent quatre-vingt (280) different "appelations" or authorized & copyright protected brand names of wine in French.

Dear Jeff:

Having toured The Little White School myself in St. Albert at #2 Madonna Drive, I can testify as to what a fascinating historical bvilding it is. Now here it is a suggested Summertime Historic Walking Tour in the very high class newspaper, The Edmonton Senior (edited by the superb Mr. Colin F. Smith, B. A. & located in St. Albert as well.)  I always think back to Anne of Green Gables & also my late mother, Mrs. June C. Koopmans, B. Ed. who taught in similar formatted bvildings in Clandonald & McLaughlin, Alberta. What fascinating times those must have been, keeping multiple students in multiple grades all on track. Plus the hardship in the fact they were all in one room (or in this case two), but all had to be individually catered to.

Tours of the school are on July XIth, & XXVth, August XVth & XXIXth, & September XIIth. Call 780-459-1528 to learn more. Or students & their family's who want to see how older generations were educated can go to Www.StAlbert.Ca.

2. Brent was the Progressive Conservative Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from MMI-MMIV for the riding of Edmonton-Calder.

Helter Shelter

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

July IIIrd, MMXIII

Hon. Jeff Johnson, MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Athabasca-Sturgeon-RedH2O

Dear Jeff:

Adapting the housing idea of people at the University Of Lethbridge, I would instead recommend that people whose homes are condemned be temporarily sheltered in abandoned schools both in Edmonton & Calgary. I am sure residents in these friendly & mature communities would be most welcoming. Plus the students are off school the next 8 weeks anyway, so its an ideal time.

I. The utility's are hooked up anyway to keep the buildings in operating order. As a result, cars & rv's could be plugged in from outside in the parking lots IV those family's wishing to live in mobile homes.

II. Many have gymnasiums which could be used IV exercise &/or bunk beds for family's to sleep in. With classrooms also being adapted for sleeping units.

III. Many have bathrooms with toilets & shower facilty's so folks living there could get regularly cleaned.

IV. The schools have huge yards around them. So many vehicles could be housed in the adjoining parking lots while family's (including students) could have plenty of space to run around & exercise in & the playgrounds could serve as an area IV younger kids to play in the sand, etc. This would also be beneficial II pets as they could get regular exercise as well & stay with their family's. Which of course in the end Jeff has to better than living in an emergency shelter.

V. School have huge cafeteria & kitchen areas where regular meals could be served to residents, plus they'd have the option of cooking their own meals.

Dear Jeff:

With water salination issues happening all over southern Alberta, its important to recognize that billions of people don't even have access to properly treated drinking H2O, its important to ensure that people all over the world have water thats safe to drink, especially for students of all ages & their family's.

In Africa, The Water Project looks after the needs of millions of African family's who through war must travel many miles & hours daily to get water thats safe for their family's to drink. Its not just in Africa, there are First Nations reserves here in Canada & homes in poorer areas that don't have this safe supplies of this precious resource. In the XXIst century with our modern technologies, this is rather embarrassing. Having had my car just washed internally & externally at Bubbles Car Wash, literature in the retail section of their location made me aware of this terrible water salination situation.
