June XXXth, MMXVIII
Hon. Dave Eggen, B. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, New Democratic, Edmonton-Calder
Dear Dave:
For three-quarters of a century & on what would have been her 75th birthday today, Mrs. June C. Koopmans, B. Ed., Classics Illustrated Comics superfan (with my Grandpa Archie) has been our guide, our protector, & our friend! Today marks mom's last birthday appearance for Executive Dissertations. As much as I want to keep having her show off her Afton Elementary School Grade II (2) lesson plans, it is time to let her spirit rest & know that with tea & birthday cake in her memory today that she did one hell of a great job with her time on Earth. Although limited to 68 years, the point is she was here, fighting for students rights to the end!
PLANS
Wednesday, March 1st, 1972:
Gym: Walking, running, sprinting.
Reading: bbd ex on roots, vowels, "oo", "can't."
(have students tell stories of airplane & bus trips using vowels as the main emphasis.)
------
Arithmetic: text P. 134.
Spelling: #23C.
Storytime: Students acting out stories with vowels in groups.
Lunch: Take an injured student from Grade 3 to school nurse before heading to teachers lounge for lunch as his teacher had a family emergency & had to leave school property.
Printing: "Ff", "Gg", "Hh","Ii","Jj."
Language Arts: Add consonants & vowels learned together so as to help students memory recall for trip stories.
------
Enterprise: Students suggest making cardboard & paper cutouts of themselves on their trips. Great as it gets their visual memory cognition going in full gear!
