Dear Jeff:

"Here Comes The Boom" is an inspiring movie just released in theatres yesterday. In the film, Kevin James plays a biology teacher named Scott Voss who will stop at nothing to help his school (which is facing huge deficit problems) from keeping its extracurricular activities. He is great friends with the school's music teacher played by Henry Winkler & doesn't want him to lose his job. So he winds up fighting in mixed martial arts contests, all the way the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the professional league for martial arts specialists. Talk about literally going "to the mat" for the kids.

He is helped by trainers & boxers, as well as a great supporting cast including Winkler, who sees his fellow teacher as a hero that is trying to inspire, rather gain any glory for himself. Salma Hayek is fantastic as the school nurse/romantic interest who helps James recover from his injuries. The actors playing the students are also great because they encourage their teacher & tell him how much they respect him IV trying to save their school's programs.

There are also great subplots with James's character teaching people in a citizenship class, as well as his trainers teaching him how to fight. His students also teach James's trainer some of the citizenship course content as a thank you to him for helping their teacher stay in shape. So everyone learns from eachother.

Quality,

Rory
