Dear Dave:

We say goodbye to a broadcast legend in Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) News Correspondent Morley Safer tonight this one final Sunday night. Canadian by birth, only the world's greatest journalists make "60 Minutes", a CBS News Magazine & Morley did so.

Before that, Morley reported for the superb Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) News & was also a newspaperman at various Ontario papers. Morley is that rare breed of journalist. Tough as nails & just as cantankerous as the late & great Mike Wallace (which if you knew Mike, you pretty much had to be.) This got him Mike's respect & made him stronger in his reportage.

From covering war to domestic issues, Morley knew journalism cold & it clearly showed in his professionalism. My favourite pieces of Morley's were when he discussed his love & hatred of art as they were so refined, so nuanced in style.
