Dear David:
Looking at my liner notes IV the closure meetings of February & March, the whole process seemed rigged. The Trustees, with the exception of Board Chairman Fleming were ordered II shut up & were completed controlled & manipulated by Edmonton Public School Board Administration. Except for asking questions in the discussion groups, they never orated their own thoughts in reverse (probably to keep their reelection writ chances alive, minus the 3 who have announced they are standing down.)
Crosscheck this to today's Edmonton Journal's Letters Page. And this lady writer is right. The LRT process, like the school closure process is rigged. Al Mauer & the City officials & subcontract firms speak II you, but there is no Q&A. There is no educational background or chance IV the public II actually have input. Steve Mandel & the City Council have the votes pre juryrigged, just like the school closure meetings were held, but the closures were going II happen regardless. The meetings are just being held IV semantics and because they are legally required II do so.
Checking Page 814 of my 991 pages of context file notes, I noticed that the EPSB Administration were afraid II take oral questions from the floor & were shouted down 26 times IV not really doing so. They just answered pre written & written questions from the audience there by grouping the questions & then rigging the answers the way they wanted them to come out. So the closure process would go ahead, but then the Trustees get the blame. When clearly it is former Premier Ralph Klein's & former Minister of Education Halvar C. Johnson's fault IV seizing the taxing power from Trustees in MCMXCIV (1994) & then not providing proper infrastructure and educational dollars back II keep up with expenses in the 1st place.
What I want to see are the donation levels II Trustee Candidates & Trustees by land developers, consultants & speculators. Then we'd know why the burbs are getting so many new schools when the inner city has plenty of servicable schools that could be reconfigured & readapted!
Quintessential,
Rory
