Dear David:
It does seem II me that if all of the math & science tests were converted back II partially written format, the students would be less able II cheat or be tempted II cheat. By throwing the students curveballs & making them have II think partly in analytical written format, they'll have II think like a student & a professor simultaneously. Which will make the tests overall harder II pass. So then the students will have II study harder as they will have a harder time bringing in cheat notes IV muliple choice, numercal response, as well as long form essay response.
I Hope The PC Policy Convention Was Productive & Enlightening,

No doubt the move to strictly multiple choice was simply and unfortunately a matter of expediency.
