Dear Thomas:
While I agree with the right of the Morinville mothers to plead their case beIV the Alberta Human Rights Commission, & with the Commission's decision to hear their case, they should not as parents trample on the rights of my Catholic friends. In her spirited defense of the issue, The Edmonton Journal's Paula Simons is valiantly focusing her energy's on how hard these parents are fighting for a secular Public education system & completely seperate secular classrooms.
Yes this is certainly their right, but my friends in St. Albert Catholic (Public) deserve to remain the Public option as guaranteed by their Charter rights & Supreme Court Of Canada decisions. Having proudly attended both St. Albert Catholic (Public) & St. Albert Protestant (Seperate) Schools as a High School student, as well as Edmonton Catholic, I can truly say what a wonderful group of people they are.
With excellent leaders like Principal David Feist of St. Albert Catholic (Public) Online, Principal Graham Jackson of St. Albert Protestant (Seperate), & Principal David Nesbitt of Edmonton Catholic Revelation Online, plus amazing teachers & support staffs, the Catholic/Public reverse hybrid is unique II St. Albert & should definitely stay in place. Especially because of the great Francophonie population in the St. Albert & Morinville districts.
Yes there should be the option IV parents II educate their kids in Morinville in a secular school option, I 100% agree. But I want my friends in St. Albert Catholic (Public) to retain their rights II public control over educational monies. They do such a fabulous job that they've earned that right, as a result, the designation should never, ever be taken away!
Catholocism/Public Schooling Hybrids Rule,
Rory
