Dear Dave:
When I brought my neighbour & her son over to the provincial employment centre earlier this morning to help them get staff to talk to them about a provincial child subsidy, I was stunned at how poor the place is being run!
I. Half the computers don't have working printers & this has been this way for four months. People are getting more & more desperate & the line ups to use machines & see workers much longer. So long in fact that people give up waiting & go starve rather than waste their time for employees that don't have any idea how to do their jobs beyond the paper shuffling. Plus there are two security guards instead of one now as the economy is getting so desperate, people are more apt to do violent things such as robbery &/or assault to one another at the centre. The look on the faces of families who cannot afford to feed their kids is sad.
II. Two of three fax machines are completely broken & have been that way for a year. This adds great stress to employers wanting hard copies rather than emails of resumes.
III. The land lines are constantly cutting in & out.
IV. There are no longer scissors, rulers, tape, & glue being handed out to assist people making up documents.
V. Most of the staff are beyond useless & many full-time staff were replaced with part-timers who cannot even speak English.
VI. And most of the Syrian refugees get jobs right away when they land in Alberta, thus displacing thousands of Albertans, that's awful!
Frankly Dave it seems to me that the Province Of Alberta can do better in meeting the employment needs of its citizens, a lot better!
Employment Stress,
Rory

P.S.: And all this lousy service in a bid to give already overpaid politicians $9 million in election subsidies! Thanks very much Comrade Loyola!
