Dear Jeff:

While I respect that the arbitrator has ruled the fired security guards get their jobs back, from a law standpoint, I vociferously disagree. Any student labour relations course will show that the guards were participating in an "illegal strike." Therefore, it was well within your government & the Hon. Jonathan Denis, QC, MLA, Minister of Justice, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Acadia II fire the four guards in question. These guards for the interest of students looking at a career in law enforcement were not just putting the inmates & their fellow guards in danger with this illegal action, they were endangering the basic human rights of the inmates & the general public at large.
