The Parliamentarians-Colin Mayes, MP

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

December XXIst, MMXIV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

When tragedy struck the MP for Oakville, Terence Young (who lost his daughter Vanessa at the way II young age of XVI (16) to a heart attack from a bad prescription drug): Colin Mayes, MP was there to support his friend. A bill was signed inII law called "Vanessa's Law" to try & prevent more young people in the future from dying from unsafe prescription drugs. Yes illegal narcotics are bad & dangerously addictive for young people & the populace as a whole, but legally prescribed drugs by a physician can also be bad medically, as they were in Vanessa Young's case.

"I was there with MP Young celebrating the Royal Assent of this Bill. This was an emotional time for Terence, his wife, & son. The sole purpose of his work on this Bill was to help ensure no other family would have to live through the loss they experienced. Canadians can be grateful for MP Young's commitment to this Bill-to protect Canadians."

Number CXCI (191),

Rory
