Dear Gordon:

II missing kids were seen being led out of a park at 3pm by a strange man. The witness is an agitated park based ice cream vendor. Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department decides on discretion to keep him calm in order to get a proper statement from him bIV he starts II IVget details (up to & including having him close his stand so he can be of relaxed mind.) Also, the Sarge gets the statement & decides not to tell it to the worried mother so she won't be even more upset than she is.

"We went to interview the witness. We decided not to tell the mother about the latest report until it was confirmed. We thought it would serve no purpose other than to cause her needless worry."

Methodical,

Rory
