Dear Gordon:
A couple on vacation in Los Angeles when the wife's water breaks in their hotel room. Sergeant Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department Traffic Offense Task Force is in the hotel on a separate investigation. Upon hearing the baby cry, he gets into the room where the baby was born as the door was adjacent to let a doctor & nurse in from a nearby hospital since the mother couldn't get to the hospital in time, she had to give birth at her temporary residence. This was rather nice of the Sarge as he is checking on the health of the mother & baby. Outside the hallway upon leaving, Sgt. Friday runs into the father who is coming back with the towels from the front desk clerk that the doctor requested. The Sarge can't resist being ever so polite & offer his best to the family through the dad. Albeit it in a "matter of fact" police fashion since he's on duty!
"So your a father now, congratulations."
