December XXVIIth, MMXIV
Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow
Dear Gordon:
Just IX (9) days before he was dead from assassin's bullets, President William McKinley talked about war & death being crazy & that although sometimes necessary, he would prefer world peace instead of war. He stated this to families of military cadets or students soldiers-in-training at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York.
"Our finest prayer is that God will graciously vouchsafe prosperity, happiness, & peace to all our neighbors, & like blessings to all the peoples & powers of Earth."
March IVth, MDCCCXCVII (1897)-September XIVth, MCMI (1901),
Rory
