Dear Jeff:
Mr. Daryl Katz, owner of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club is not conducting his business very fairly or ethically. He had reached an agreement with the Mayor & the City Council abour public taxpayer dollars IV arena funding. The funds were voted in IV him, a final figure was set in stone, now he comes back asking for just over $100 million Canadian Funds more. The man has $2 billion plus in cash & assets, not only should we not give him this money, the City should withdraw all taxpayer funds its promised in the first place as Mr. Katz & the Katz Group are not sticking II their word II ask IV more money.
Mr. Katz doesn't have II pay the money back, or any interst & he's a multi-billionaire. If I go II the bank, or a government at any level, I wouldn't get such generous terms, & I wouldn't expect not II pay back the money I borrowed & a reasonable rate of interest. Mr. Katz & Rexall Pharmacies make more money off of the steroids they sell their players than they do off of the hockey games themselves. Mr. Katz has indicated to the Mayor & City Council right II their faces that the Oilers lose money ever since he bought them. So why should my tax dollars go II subsidize an owner whose team isn't running a profit?
Not Setting A Good Example IV Banking & Commerce Students,
Rory
