Hon. Adriana LaGrange, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Red Deer-North
Dear Adriana:
I was incredibly sad like many Edmontonians to hear of the shooting here on Jasper Avenue at 116th Street by the alley. Whilst two people were injured, luckily it was not by bullets & no one else was injured or killed. Gladly, the Edmonton Police Service Tactical/Homicide/Air-1/Canine & other units came out to assist & ably lock down the scene quickly & efficiently in their usual superb manner/command style. I was glad that this didn't occur during daytime hours later in the day when more people would have been out, still with the heavier concentration of folks living in the downtown core its a scary situation to be sure. If it had been later in the day, I would have been very concerned for the safety of Candidate Randy Boissonnault of the Liberal Party Of Canada & Candidate James Cumming of the Conservative Party Of Canada & their staffs/volunteers in Edmonton-Centre as their campaign offices are what just three blocks away. This is very close or adjacent to where the shooting occurred so it is reasonable to assume this could have happened. I don't take (nor would I presume to take) any side on the issue of gun violence or the registration of guns & the party positions because of & for the record I am not an active candidate in the XLIVth (44th) General Election Writ of The Dominion Of Canada. I would however hope that local law enforcement & the citizenry of Edmonton Proper will find & successfully capture the person(s) responsible for these attempted murders in our beautiful city.
A Non-Violent Streak,
Rory
