April XVth, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

With the recent passing of Former Massachusetts Ist Lady Kitty Dukakis, Democratic, wife of Former Massachusetts Governor Michael S. Dukakis, Democratic. It should be noted just how important the spouse/partner of the the candidates are on the trail, & in whether they govern if they win, or serve in opposition, & even when they retire. Gov. Dukakis was of course the MCMLXXXVIII Democratic Presidential Candidate Vice-President George H. W. Bush, Republican-Texas (although like Mike & Kitty, born in Massachusetts) & George had Barbara P. Bush, Republican-Texas (although born in New York) to rely on.

Kitty, like Mrs. Betty Ford, Republican-Michigan (although born in Illinois) had alcoholic & substance abuse addictions. But both women overcame these addictions & were strong in their support for their husbands, both on & off the campaign trail. Just as Mrs. Anaida Poilievre, Conservative-Ontario (although born in Venezuela) & Mrs. Debra F. Carney, Liberal-Ontario (although born in the United Kingdom) have been for their husbands. Mrs. Ford with the encouragement of her good husband, President Gerald R. Ford, Republican-Michigan (although born in Nebraska) opened "The Betty Ford Center" to help people get off of alcohol & other addictive substances, a noble endeavour. Kitty Dukakis was even put on a Committee by her husband's opponent to help people to stay safe & sober/clear-headed, truly amazing candidate spouses are indeed!

Nellie McClung,

Rory
