Wow, what an amazing feat! The personal copy of the Constitution Of The United States that was owned & signed by the Ist U.S. President, George Washington was bought by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association for $9,826,500.00 United States Dollars. This non-profit, privately run group keeps the Former & Late President's home of Mount Vernon, Virginia in superb shape. This copy of the book was sold to private folks/collectors many years ago to raise funds IV the house's preservation. Now its going back there, where it belongs & will be there in time IV a George Washington Presidential Library, which will open in MMXIII (2013.) What an exciting addition!

I am sure that Pres. Washington would be thrilled that documents signed by him, along with his own handwritten annotations is back at his homestead. Plus, bills to establish acts to establish treasury, state, defense, & judiciary departments of the government are included in the purchase! Totally awesome! Its dated MDCCLXXXIX (1789), Pres. Washington's Ist year in office, so its a great feature IV any library!
