Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, No Constituency As Unelected
Dear Gordon:
I am writing to you on the gravest of concerns. Your Progressive Conservative candidate IV the Edmonton-Whitemud byelection, the Hon. Stephen Mandel, A. Arts., B. Sc., M. Poli. Sci., Minister of Health, Progressive Conservative, No Constituency As Unelected has plans that are of great worry to me & other Albertans.
While homelessness is of a serious concern, Maury Soroka (cousin of homeless chairperson Murray Soroka) has contacted me about the fact that Minister Mandel plans to use his power as a cabinet minister to ram through a homeless shelter where drug & alcohol addicts would be allowed to partake of these items. Plus, he plans to do it within the confines of Edmonton-Whitemud after being sworn in. Please don't issue any denials but check into it first. He tried to do it in a sneaky way at first by getting then Madam Premier Alison M. Redford, QC, Progressive Conservative, Sewing A New Quilt & your about to be retired predecessor, David G. Hancock, QC, MLA, Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Whitemud to force it through under the noses of residents by a secret Cabinet Order-In-Council.
When it happened, then Mayor Mandel, Minister Hancock, Murray Soroka, & the rest of these public officials faced serious push back from Terwillegar, Riverbend & Whitemud residents at a public meeting (I attended so can speak to it personally.) While getting homeless students & their family's off of the streets is very important, wouldn't it be better to place them in say empty homes & schools buildings in older areas to increase occupancy & density levels there? This would certainly be more cost effective as the structures are already in place & things like doctors offices & drug & alcohol support group meetings are nearby. As are places like The Food Bank for nutritional needs.
Delicately As I Wouldn't Want This II Get Out,
Rory

P.S.: It looks especially bad as The Katz Group would be the contractor.
