Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, No Constituency As Unelected
Dear Gordon:
President James Polk was the only candidate for President to win his election but lose the Electoral College vote IV both his birth state of North Carolina & his adopted home state of Tennessee. As such, he is definitely the "go-to" guy for students on just how tough a job he had as Chief Executive since some people felt he didn't have a strong home base of support despite actually winning the election overall nationally.
"With me it is exceptionally true that the Presidency is no bed of roses."
March IVth, MDCCCXLV (1845)-March IVth, MDCCCXLIX (1849),
Rory
