Dear Jeff:

A judge has sealed the records of a case that would help Detective Joe Friday of the Los Angeles Police Department solve a young female student's murder. The judge says that he sealed them in the public interest. Det. Friday respectfully & vociferously disagrees with the judge out of earshot & intones this in his narration off camera later on. It should be noted that the suspected murderer is a rich person & Det. Friday feels that all folks, whether rich or poor should be treated "equally under the law" by judges & not be given extra leeway such as what is in his opinion is occurring here.

"The public interest? He sealed the case in someone's interest: but not the public's."

So In This Case Joe Friday Is Acting As A "Public" Defender,

Rory
