Dear David:

The President of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists & Geophysicists of Alberta, Mrs. Kim Farwell has a great message. While not female myself, I can truly see that what she says makes sense. We in Alberta & indeed worldwide need II attract more women II the engineering/geosciences trade.s Having a feminine perspective on engineering projects working in tandem with the masculine side will only make them better. Many great scientists & engineers have been women, having more of them in the engineering professon might allow IV ideas & features that say a male engineer mght not have thought of incorporating.

Also, President Farwell's message of mentoring youth, in particular aboriginal youth II get them in the engineering & geoscience trades is smart. I do not mind telling the APEGGA President that this was (& still is) one of the planks I ran upon when I ran IV Ward A Edmonton Public School Board Trusteeship last autumn. If I as a disabled man could get II high school diplomas, then aboriginal & all youths should be encouraged II get one. By staying in school, they'll have much better opportunities in the post-secondary sector & then a future career (say in engineering.) Starting II work with the students while in Grade VII will only encourage them to get stronger & stronger.
