Dear Dave:

As a teacher by profession, you must recognize that there are many ways to learn. Sure there is the traditional classroom setting, or homeschooling. Some learners are self-taught & can gain far greater knowledge this way than if they ever had a degree. Pres. Abe Lincoln, Republican-Illinois taught himself to read the works of the playwright William Shakespeare on the farm in the log cabin where he grew up & then saw Shakespearean plays in person once he became the Chief Executive for example.
