Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow
Dear Demetrios:
I was asked once whether I ever wanted to be a Premier or even a Prime Minister & the person was surprised when I answered straight away "absolutely not!" The thought of the top job never occurred to me & that is why a leader could trust me in a cabinet as I would never attempt to seize power & command control of the government. With respect, the highest I'd ever want to go in a cabinet situation is Minister of Agriculture (although I would agree to be "Interim Premier or PM" if there was an emergency situation such as when Mr. Justice Premier Hancock had to take over on an "interim" basis when Premier Redford stood down. I wasn't born on a farm, but my father was in The Netherlands. Plus, we have a family acreage just west of here as Executive Dissertations readers already know in The XXXIst (31st) County Of Parkland, so I really admire & respect farmers as dad rents part of the land to an area farmer. This area of course being represented by your cabinet colleague Hon. Andrew Boitchenko, ECA, MLA, Minister of Tourism & Sport, United Conservative, Drayton Valley-Devon. The Late Great Hon. Peter C. Elzinga, ECA, ICD. D., PC, Progressive Conservative made it to Agriculture Minister slot & also honourably operated a feedlot business to support farmers & as a farmer/rancher himself. That is the standard I would like to uphold. Candidates in rural ridings such as the current Battle River-Crowfoot byelection who take over as the new MP must of course help farmers & say Ist Nations groups with support to keep going. Without family farms after all, who will feed both people & animals? Both in rural & urban settings of course. We must ensure proper agricultural supports to keep family farms going!
Farm Friendly,
Rory
