The Chairman & Mrs. Gates
February XIth, MMXV
Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow
Her Majesty's Government is supposedly "For Children First." Including having pins made up with that logo & worn by folks such as the esteemed Former Premier Hancock. 741 deaths & rising daily of foster kids under the watch of Jim & some of his predecessors was & is appalling. & it was 100% right for The Calgary Herald & The Edmonton Journal to reveal these injustices to Albertan children who didn't ask to be born & who are not at fault for needing foster families to keep them safe.
Unlike you & your government who play crass political games over a paltry $275,000.00 to a department of the Child & Youth Advocate (which you asked to expand under the orders of the XVth Premier), the Chairman & Mrs. Bill & Melinda Gates do many great works with children around the world. So I have taken the unusual step of drafting up a letter and paper mailing it to The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
I will stand up for children as it appears my own MLA the Human Services Minister the Hon. Heather Klimchuk, MLA, Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Glenora will not do so. In my letter I have asked Mr. & Mrs. Gates for $300,000.00 from their foundation to be given directly to the Child & Youth Advocate in an escrow account that only he controls in order so that a proper investigation of the foster kids deaths & ways to look at improving their safety can be concluded. It really is a shame that you'll give money to an accountant in the form of the Auditor General, but you'll take away money from the Child & Youth Advocate that you had already handed him. Its a shell game being played with the lives of Alberta's kids & god damn it Gordon, I won't bloody well won't stand for it! As for Genia Leskiw, MLA, Progressive Conservative, Bonnyville-Cold Lake, isn't she a wife & mother? Then she puts forward a motion at that committee like that yesterday to dent the funds! Its sad really!
