From A Wheelchair

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #23, 9731-174 Street, Edmonton, Alberta T5T 6G4

July XXXIst, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

As this is Campaign Post #32 of 50, I thought it would be very important to take a page from 4 term in a row never defeated XXXIInd (32nd) US President Franklin D. Roosevelt, Democratic-New York & various Canadian party leader electoral records, & he did it all from a wheelchair showing that being disabled doesn't make you unable to work as Franklin had that fantastic brain. People shouldn't forget that Franklin's wartime buddy, Canadian PM William L. M. King, Liberal was defeated in the MCMXLV (1945) General Election & got a Liberal MP to stand down so he could get elected in Glengarry, a safe Ontario byelection. So for Liberals & opponents of Conservative Battle River-Crowfoot byelection Candidate Pierre Poilievre, its hypocritical for Grits to complain that the Tories have their leader in a byelection. Mr. King also lost his seat in MCMXI (1911) & wasn't back in The House Of Commons until 8 years later. Sir John A. Macdonald won a seat in Manitoba in the district of Marquette but due to some legal squabbling, he was stuck with having to resign & run in a Victoria byelection. Even Sir Winston Churchill had to run in byelections & he's known for being one of the greatest UK Prime Ministers & MPs of them all. It is ironic in a way that both Mr. Poilievre & Sir Macdonald were at one point the MP for Carleton.

An Odd Electoral Coincidence,

Rory

Pivoting

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., 15906-100A Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5P 0L8

July XXXth, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

I can definitely see why Elections Canada has decided to "pivot" (like a National Hockey League (NHL) goalie) over to Adapted or Special Ballots where voters have to print/write the name of the candidate of their choice bin the Battle River-Crowfoot byelection & why that is certainly easier for overall counting procedures. At the same time, I see the argument of The Longest Ballot Committee to. For complete fairness, I believe that any voters who wish to "make their mark" with an "X" should be afforded that option of ballot type if they so choose.

Rory

July XXIXth, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

Due to a scheduling conflict with other planned activities this evening, & helping out my dad with some minor repairs at his acreage in The XXXIst County Of Parkland, I am unable to get to Camrose in person as I had planned in time to see the All Candidates Debate in the Battle River-Crowfoot byelection. I wish all candidates well & I hope it is a spirited discussion betwixt them & that they give quality answers to audience questions that respect the topic area(s) being asked about.

Transparent Questions & Answers & A Clean Debate,

Rory

July XXVIIth, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

It seems The Rt. Hon. Sir John A Macdonald, PC the Conservative Party Of Canada Leader is the byelection candidate in Victoria, heading out west even farther than Mr. Poilievre in Battle River-Crowfoot. Sir John, having fallen in Kingston like Pierre did in Carleton needs to get back in to keep railroad dreams alive for this great Dominion. Here The Prime Minister talks of keeping a solid "Union" together.

"Whatever you do, adhere to the Union. We are a great country & shall become one of the greatest in the universe, if we preserve it."

The Battle Rages On!

July XXIVth, MMXXVI

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

I find it very interesting in "the campaign" to siphon off United Conservative votes & bring back the former Progressive Conservative brand, that Independent MLAs Hon. Peter Guthrie, ECA, MLA, Airdrie-Cochrane, & Scott Sinclair, MLA, Lesser Slave Lake are going to combine with Alberta Party assets & the name to try & make this happen. 25-30 years ago, I was invited to a wine & cheese party that had both Alberta Party & Progressive Conservative Party members at it. It was held somewhere se of Whyte Avenue here in south Edmonton. It was not merger talks, no it was the historical legal fight history betwixt the Alberta Party & the then Premier Lougheed led PC Alberta Party. Each party had some court battles over the rights to use Progressive Conservative or PC. Again there was no coercion & I had a left foot & ankle surgery just days before so was brought to the event by another person as I was on crutches & taking antibiotics after the surgery so stuck with coffee at the party, so I didn't keep the invite. But it is rather interesting to see the twist & turns in this battle as the use of the name has been a pitched battle since what MCMLXV (1965) when Mr. Lougheed assumed the PC Alberta Leadership, that's at least sixty years now, maybe longer.

This Is Not A New Battle,

Rory

P.S.: Mr. Guthrie whilst in cabinet accepted free MH Care Oilers playoff tickets so he is not a particularly "non-shady" character in this entire mess/endeavor/affair matter, of & for the record!

Farm To Table

July XXIVth, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

There are very harvest times in the summer. I would of course encourage all candidates as per protocol to visit farmers in tractors. Even if it is a little more work. Some farmers would really appreciate getting mail in ballots which properly filled out, addressed, & stamped can get to Elections Canada Headquarters or the returning office for the Battle River-Crowfoot byelection on or before August XVIIIth. Good working people have the right to vote & every farmer & every urban citizen who is a voter needs full access to achieve that vote!

Voting Transparency & Fairness,

Rory

Mercredi Edmonton Mayoral-Candidate Michael Walters

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

July XXIIIrd, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Bow

Dear Demetrios:

A late entrant to the race, City Of Edmonton Mayoral Candidate Michael Walters also brings a wealth of experience with two terms in office as a City Councilor ending in MMXXI when he did not run for a IIIrd straight term, which he would have won, I respect that. Today, Mike discusses his thought process on working hard to get things done.

Note: I am unaware that Mike ever met the late, great Miss Barbara Walters, ABC News Correspondent.

July XXIInd, MMXXV

Hon. Demetrios Nicolaides, B. A., M. P. S., Ph. D., ECA, MLA, Minister of Education, United Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Demetrios:

I understand that the Camrose Casino is facing bankruptcy issues as per Alberta Liquor & Gaming & Cannabis Commission (AGLC.) Also, that despite objections from Edmontonians over, noise, traffic, construction, & crime concerns with a move to South Edmonton, the UCP Government favors the move, presumably due to all the expected gaming revenue. Aren't you just cutting into the revenues of the Century Casino & other south side Edmonton casinos by doing this. It would be nice if the next MP for Battle River-Crowfoot (which includes Camrose) could work receivers, the casino corporation & citizens to keep the casino, & therefore its tax revenues inside the boundaries of Camrose. You know to keep the jobs there & therefore the heartbeat of small town Alberta alive.
