Dear David:
Summer Camps are a great way IV kids to burn healthy energy. They are encouraged to bring along a healthy lunch & snacks. They get to do fun exercising activity's such as running around, hiking, & swimming & scavenger hunts. This along with the food keeps their body's healthy & ready to play. Cognitive games to stimulate the brain such as artistry classes like painting, playing with toys & games, making crafts, & just drawing are also included.
So whether through the YMCA or say a Summer School &/or community league, children should be encouraged to attend these camps. Sometimes they even include field trips to off site places in an adventure format. Sometimes the kids stay at the same facility all day doing multiple activity's of learning in a fun way. Which of course means they'll be more excited about attending & want to go back & even tell you about their day. The point is these places let kids be kids & play with similar aged kids in a friendly environment where they can perhaps make new friends & learn new experiences.
Camp David,
Rory
