The Assemblymen-Brian Mason, MLA

Rory J. Koopmans, B. Admin., #6, 14504-108 Avenue, Edmonton, Alberta T5N 1G8

February Ist, MMXV

Hon. Gordon Dirks, B. Ed., M. Ed., MLA, Minister of Education, Progressive Conservative, Calgary-Elbow

Dear Gordon:

Former Alberta New Democratic Leader Brian Mason, MLA has always been concerned about the plight of the working family & in making sure that Albertans of all socioeconomic standards get a fair deal! A true asset as a person to the Assembly Chamber. Here he chats about how a proposed provincial sales tax or PST would be horrible for working families already on tighter budgets!

"I don't like the idea. I don't think its fair to middle class & lower income families. Its a consumption tax & so hits those families harder, for example, then really wealthy families."

Alta. Legislative Assembly Fifty-Two,

Rory

Just as a five per cent cut in pay would be a lot less tough on individuals who are paid $100,000-plus per year, than it would be on those who are making, say, $40,000. I'm sure Brian would agree.
