Dear David:
I find it quite funny that City of Edmonton Councillors & others seemed shellshocked by the news that there will be a huge overage of students come fall class season. Do they not understand that Edmontonians do love public transit? I mean we have the second highest per capita in North America number of visits to our public library system (on a daily basis.) With only New York City Proper beating us.
Its not just the southern line by the University of Alberta that will be affected. It will also be the line north towards NAIT, feeding off of Grant MacEwan. Sattelite campus colleges off of the beat & path such as Norquest & Concordia will also see a high level of students. When the western line is completed, schools from Kindergarten right through to the Jasper Place Grant MacEwan Arts Complex Campus will be inundated with the LRT students from Edmonton & surrounding area who may never have ventured out west before. Or at least had a harder time getting to & from their destination on a standardized diesel engine powered regular bus.
Sincerely,
Rory
