July XIIIth, MMX

Hon. David G. Hancock, QC, MLA, Minister of Education,
Progressive Conservative, Edmonton-Whitemud

Dear David:

Not many people remember this now, but President Lyndon B. Johnson, Democrat-Texas was by trade a teacher. He taught folks a lot of good things in his Presidency, such as how II take over as XXXVIth (36th) President when XXXVth President John F. Kennedy, Democrat-Massachusetts was killed. He also fought hard for and got the Civil Rights Act of MCMLXIV (1964) act passed. Not to mention the Voting Rights Act of MCMLXV (1965.) The late President should be respected for these successes.

In March MMVII, President George W. Bush, Republican-Texas signed the Legislation into law and officially on September XVIIth, MMVII the Education Department building was renamed IV the late President. Out of respect IV his teaching credentials. The Johnson family was of course very greatful to President Bush a Republican from Texas. Especially as their father was a Democrat from Texas.

Of corse David student need to be aware that President Johnson did a lot of good. But his handling of the Vietnam War and Asian combat theatres was appalling. Particularly when he creates a fake attack on Americans in the Gulf of Tonkin when no Americans were killed and then arbitrarily extends out tours IV soldiers when he runs short of troops. Thus causing thousands of them to die. Teach David that war is terrible and we should only resort to it in emergency's.

Supporting Our Canadian Troops In The Afghan Theatre,

Rory
