Dear David:

It was XXIII (23) years ago tonight that we saw a stellar example of leadership in action, a real educational treat. The late & respected Mayor Laurence Decore got us thru one of the worst crisis sitations we ever had. Awake around the clock for days, Laurence coordinated with Heather Airth of Emergency Relief Services an excellent response on July XXXIst, MCMLXXXVII (July 31st, 1987) to the deadly tornado that killed XXVII (27) of our fellow citizens.

The tragedy ripped us apart. But Laurence Decore brought us back. He had ground troops & volunteers working 24/7 to rescue citizens, clean up disaster debris & find food and shelter IV the homeless and displaced. Historical records will show Alberta kids that he kept this City together. The kids of Edmonton need II know our past & how great Laurence Decore was. Then if they decide to run IV Mayor or Council, they can learn from his example.
