XXVIIIth Mayor Of Edmonton Ivor Graham Dent was the first to be elected to a 3 year term as The Municipal Act was changed to 3 year terms for Mayor, Alderman/Councillor, & Trustee. Currently it sits at 4 years. Ivor was instrumental in getting the Commonwealth Games here in MCMLXXVIII & have it all opened up by Her Dear Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth The IInd, just superb! With a Bachelor of Arts in Science & teaching degrees (including a Ph. D. in Educational Administration), Ivor became a teacher & school administrator, Ivor Dent School is named in his honour.
