Dear Demetrios:

Ist Mayor Of Edmonton Matthew McCauley (who had McCauley School & neighborhood named after him) truly realized the importance of education as he later served as an Alderman for The Town Of Vermillion,  MLA, & School Trustee. Matthew got the Edmonton School District set up through Ottawa since Edmonton was still the Northwest Territories at the time & needed approval from Ottawa. This is important that Matthew served three then one year terms as Mayor & then stepped aside as he knew it was time for fresh leadership. He also knew when he served as School Board Chairman/President that he should give up the chairmanship & serve as a regular School Trustee so that new ideas could be brought forward whilst still contributing his thoughts at meetings as a respected husband & father for the betterment of all children. Certainly an attribute missing in many politicians these days who hang onto long.
