Dear Demetrios:

In for his first non-consecutive term of two as the top man in town, IVth Mayor Of Edmonton John Alexander McDougall threw himself into the job in his term as he was a Justice Of The Peace & Ist President Of The Edmonton Board Of Trade, so he had good judgment skills towards being mayor. John also successfully ran a merchant & trade business with fellow businessman & co-owner Richard Secord, this gave John tremendous respect. Plus John also served on the Public School Board as a Trustee as a Town Alderman & later as an MLA, such great experience. John A. McDougall School is named in his honour for his belief in education, especially as John had to leave school early when his father died to support his family.
