XIIth Mayor Of Edmonton William James McNamara was a teacher by trade & real estate agent,  he had also been Mayor of Wetaskiwin. He became the first candidate in Edmonton's history to defeat the sitting mayor in the closest election possible with just 50.2% of the vote, a record that is unbroken to this day. William was tossed out of office as Mayor for voting on a matter in which he was to benefit financially. It was known at the time but he still did so & was properly tossed out of office by a Court Justice. This guy sounds like a scumbag as he was in favour of keeping prostitution & gambling alive in the City, a sleazy character. William even fired the police & morality squad chiefs to accomplish this goal!
