XXIst Mayor Of Edmonton John Wesley Fry was a teacher by trade & later homesteaded. He started to contracting/construction work when he came to Edmonton. John ran for office 11 times & was never defeated, serving both as Alderman & Mayor, a remarkable feat. John was big on promoting citizens of all ages play baseball & other sports. John Fry Baseball Park, later John Fry Sports Park with multiple sports possible there is named in his honour. John also volunteered with the Kiwanis Club, a very respected organization even whilst being Mayor.
